What is the main difference between second hand and brand new games?

Hi people,

This is my first time owning a gaming console so pardon me for asking stupid questions...

I was wondering what is the main difference between second hand and brand new games?

How does it works? Like other than its a "second hand" whats the main difference? Will I be able to play the game fully? Will there be additional fee I have to pay for playing second hand games?

The game works exactly the same if you buy it new or used. It's just been opened so most stores can't/won't take them back so they get sold cheaper. The only difference might be if you get a game that comes with codes for something else, the codes might
be used.

it may depend per game.

For example in the past, some games had a one time code to unblock Multiplayer part of the game, which would require you to purchase that part again in order to play the game online.

But as far as I know that hasn't been done recently.

Other games may have come with certain codes to unlock any additional content, that ofcourse isn't available to be used again either.

So in general you should be able to play the game, but in some cases not everything that is shown on the game case may be present/available.

Cheers for the response. Same issues, only mw2 was second hand, all of the other games are/were brand new. Any clue as to what is wrong with the console itself? Thanks.

Hell Yeah! They were wrong to try it. Half of the game's I buy brand new now are because I bought an older version second hand and enjoyed it, Assassins Creed for instance. Their is no way I'd be playing that Ubisoft series now if it hadn't been for second
hand sales.
