what is the lifespan of an xbox one controller?

I have less than 25hrs on 2 controllers, one has the thumb stick drift issue, the other just started smoking today, when I plugged it in for an update. Xbox is just coming up on one year old!!!

Xbox One repair cost/lifespan

Recently my Xbox One stopped reading all discs. I replaced the disc drive myself and it can now only read Blu Ray discs.

My Xbox is 4 years old so I’m assuming that’s the normal lifespan of the Xbox. Before I send it in, I wanted to know what the lifespan after repairs would be and the cost of the repairs. If anyone has had experience with this, input would be much appreciated.
I am trying to determine whether or not it would be better to get a new one or send in my old one for repairs.

Xbox has been missing an opportunity

Xbox One is crushing 360 sales compared to the same point in it's lifespan.....

Sorry to hear it. I have two original controllers that I got when I purchased the console. Yours could be glitching out. What I would recommend is calling phone support to see if they can suggest anything. If you live in North America dial 1-800-469-9269

I just called Microsoft this weekend and to give a little background: I have had a 360 for years and have four wireless controllers for the 360 that I have had for what seems like forever. For my xbox one I have three wireless controllers. The one controller
is basically become useless as it is suffering from the drifting issue. My other two controllers while not having the drifting issue at times seem to suffer from an issue where I have to hit a button more that one to actually get a response. This is on a
system that is less than two years old. Like I said I have a 360 and have had my controllers a long time and never had issues. Also I think people forget how Microsoft touted they put millions into the research for the xbox one controller. It is so disappointing.
The one forum here dealing with some of these issues was 71 pages long and Microsoft locked it. The answer I was given when calling them this weekend is that I should go out and buy some xbox one elite controllers. After reading the forums it seems I was lucky
my controllers lasted this long. I like Microsoft and really want to like the xbox one but Microsoft has made it very difficult with some of the choices they have made. I believe they have lost a lot of long time fans based on their choices. I have not abandoned
them yet but like I said they are making it harder and harder to back them and defend them. Hopefully someone at MS starts making better choices.

I have the same issue with multiple controllers. One that was sent out to me as a replacement is doing the same thing without any playtime, right out the box.

My new controller would not power on after 2 months The other one had a left joystick that broke. Went to Microsoft store and exchanged BOTH of them. I was told to call the help line next time. 18 days later one of them does not power on even after trying
new batteries and hooking up directly to the console with a usb cable. At the store they kept pushing the new elite controller for $150.00. Who would pay that after all these problems? I still own the original xbox and the xbox 360 and had zero problems. I
had to exchange my xbox one console because the hdmi connection crapped out. Then the controller issues. If this keeps happening can you say Playstation!!!!!!

My fear is what happens beyond the one? From now on a games lifespan is in full control of Microsoft using a digital pin to lock/unlock them and if Microsoft decide a game has run it's coarse, that's it, end of story. You can't play it off the disc like
the present generation of consoles.

Can Microsoft guarantee they will support games made for the one once it has reached the end of it's commercial lifespan or will we be left with a Microsoft T.V. box that plays BluRay?
