What is the Different between Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass

Greeting my name is Ray, I recently bought my Xbox One S, and when I bought it came with an Xbox Live Gold which has prompted me to go Microsoft website, the isn't much about detail information about the Xbox Live Gold that I will love to know.

I'm confused between the Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.

Can you play a game offline?
Can you play the free game offline? Without connecting online.
What happens to the game with your subscription if it is finished?

What are the do and don't about the Xbox live gold and Game Pass?

Xbox Live Gold gives you access to online multiplayer, discounts and monthly free games.

Game pass allows you to play over 100 games as part of the monthly subscription and also offers some discounts for games and DLC. Generally you'd still want Gold if you were to play any of those games in multiplayer.

Once the subscription ends you lose the benefits and access to the games.

Id be happy to help you out with the differences between the Subscriptions. Gamepass allows you to download games from our
Gamepass library
and play them for as long as you have the Gamepass subscription. You also get discounts on these games if you decide to buy them while your subscription is active.

Xbox live Gold
allows you to play games through online multiplayer. You also get special discounts called

"deals with gold" along with Free games every month called
"Games with gold"

Internet connection is required for both of these subscriptions. For gamepass, internet connection is only used to download the games.

I don't have an internet connection where I stay, I'm from South Africa, where internet is expansive to buy. so I will connect from work download the game get home and play offline would that work?

 

Hi, to add to previous comments- Xbox Live Gold comes with a feature called “Games with Gold” that allows you to claim two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games each month. The Xbox One games through this program are free for you to play while your Gold
subscription remains active; the Xbox 360 games are yours to keep for free forever even if your subscription expires. Games with Gold can be obtained with a subscription to Xbox Live Gold, but can’t be obtained with a prepaid code trial membership for 2-14
days.

Most games that have a single player component can be played offline once they have been installed and updated from an internet source. You just need to have your Xbox as your account's Home Console which should be set by default during your initial set
up.

Most games that require you to have a consistent internet connection are multiplayer only games and will show descriptions in the Microsoft Store that says something like this, "Online multiplayer on Xbox requires Xbox Live Gold (subscription sold separately)".
It will also say "XBOX LIVE" above the title.

The Game Pass has plenty of games that you can play offline but make sure to check first in the Store if you see online requirements for the game. Games that you get for free through your subscriptions will only be playable while the subscriptions are active.

Some titles have to be connected online to be able to be played . So i say check what title you download first

Xbox Game Pass is a list list of games that you can play, the games are removed and added every month, you can also play Microsoft's games with games on day one.

 

Definitely check the title! When my Internet connection goes down, there are certain games I cannot play because they require an online connection at all times
