    What is optical audio?

I'm just using an HDMI cable connection and have stereo uncompressed for my HDMI audio.

So should optical audio be off or stereo uncompressed and does it matter?

    :)

  2. Optical Out - What is it for??

Hi Guys. I am a total noob to all this. I have a TV with no Digital Optical Out port. I am looking to buy a sound bar that only has a Digital Optical connection. If I hook the Sound bar through my Xbox One, will this work? I currently run my Sky box through
the Xbox Ones HDMI port. So if it does work, will games, Blu Ray and my TV run through the sound bar when using the Xbox One? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am new to this sound bar malarky. Thanks in advance.

  3. Optical Out - What is it for??

I have two 360's in the same room. I don't have any receivers. We use the optical out for our Tritton AX Pros. It's kind of a necessary feature for us as we do run both consoles at the same time and it gets really annoying when you hear the tink tink of
a grenade on the other persons TV and start to run around trying to make sure you don't walk into a grenade marker.

    What is optical audio?

Hi, optical audio is mainly used for surround sound systems. And it wouldn't make a difference to you if you use optical audio cause your sound is probably coming through your tv. So what your asking is if you should turn it off and I would since your not
using it and I don't know if it would matter cause I'm using a surround sound setup in my house. I hope this help man.

SPDIF Optical Audio Cord not working.

ok, the optical audio connection on Tv's is an output only in which case what you're trying isn't going to work, you need to connect the optical audio out on the Xbox to an amp or av/receiver etc. I would stick with HDMI audio to be honest.

    No audio via optical output

My audio optical out recently just quit working altogether. Was there a recent update or something that stopped sending out the audio signal over optical?

I do notice on my receiver it now displays Dolby Digital when I use the HDMI when it didn't previously. I was using the optical audio to get Dolby Digital.

Any ideas on what's going on?

I did some of my own investigating.

What does a PC in another room have to do with anything?

Most home theatre's have a optical audio if the do not have HDMI.

You can connect optical audio (toslink) from your Xbox one to your home theatre
