What is Microsoft's next big move?

i think sooner or later people are going to drop the resolution argument, mainly because has devs get better with the hardware, they shouldn't have an issue hitting "next gen graphics", and we are already starting to see that happen.

people keep saying it's not a valid argument, but it is, if anyone is so hung up on graphics, then they need to get a gaming PC. because for me, if i want just an amazing hamburger i'm not going to Burger King to get it.

 

I don't think the resolution/FPS argument/debate will ever go away, well not as long as the fanboys are around and I don't see them going away anytime soon unfortunately

Having said that and it's been posted before, overall it's probably only a small % of gamers that use sites like this, IGN, N4G for example and when you look at Xbox.com it's usually the same few ( probably using multiple accounts ) that keep bringing the
debate up and the same with other sites.

The people I know in the real world, friends, family whether it's their own consoles, their kids never talk about this "Which is more powerful" rubbish, they choose their consoles whether it be for price, games, where their friends are.

And I totally agree with Zero Divided above, these people that are so hung up on graphics, why are they even bothering with either console, graphics wise, PC is "The Daddy" but I believe the majority of the fanboys who talk constantly about power/graphics,
they probably really don't care about if the truth be known but people love to brag ... "Mines so much bigger than yours" ... it helps them in justifying their own decision which is sad really because if they made their choice for what I class as the right
reasons I think they would be enjoying their gaming a lot more.

 

MS will announce a portable device you can wear on your hip that can play cassette music tapes whilst on the move. Will be called the Strollbox.

There's a bunch of things I'd like to see them do: -

Make a Kinect game that I actually want to buy. I'm still not convinced that's possible, but I don't think anyone has really attempted it yet.

Bring back 1 Vs. 100 or something along similar lines. I'd like to see them run seasons of different massively multiplayer game shows with prizes.

Add TV DVR functionality. That's the only thing they've not either done or announced already that would make the Xbox One a "complete" system IMO.

Create a platform for game streaming. They're far better set up for that than Sony in terms of the server situation. They could offer 360 games - maybe even add some kind of subscription where you get access to the entire catalogue for a monthly fee - as
well as streaming versions of demos.

Do more EA Access-type deals. Sony have showed that they're not interested, but lots of gamers are. Only a handful of publishers have the games catalogues to do it, but if they could tie up deals with those I think it would be great.

Demonstrate "the power of the cloud". There's a developer on NeoGAF that's working on a game and he has talked about how people don't understand the possibilities and what the cloud allows you to do, but until people see it demonstrated as part of a real
game then many of them aren't going to take it seriously.

Buy up a few devs. They've put together some new studios, but I think it would be good if they bought a couple of existing ones. Respawn would be a great choice and it would lock Titanfall 2 down as an Xbox One and PC exclusive. I would much rather see MS
putting their money into making a new Tomb Raider-style action/adventure game that's a new IP than paying devs not to put their games on other systems, which is effectively what they've done with Rise of the Tomb Raider.

With the console system software, I think they just need to keep doing what they've been doing - listening to fans and adding what they want. They've done a great job so far.

Outside of that I think it's mostly about providing a decent and varied selection of exclusive games.

 

I don't see any improved hardware this gen, defeats the purpose of a console. They dumb thing about 'resolutiongate' is both x86 consoles are so simliar in system power that pixels need to be counted or frames measured over hours to tell the difference.
It astounds me that people think ~30% means 'vastly superior'.

Next big move is cloud compute, made taboo by the uninformed. We've just recently learned they've managed to mask 250ms latency, few rumors of games in developement with more cloud utilisation, I'm still hoping for a massive MMO persistant world with a
scale physics not possible locally.
