What is happening with the Microsoft Rewards app?

I have noticed today that they have removed the abilty to earn rewards by searching with Microsoft Edge.

This is true. The Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox is replaced by the new Rewards hub. Xbox Rewards will remain part of the Microsoft Rewards program, and all points you earn on Xbox will continue in other parts of the program. To maximize your points and earn even more, be sure to check out the hub.

There has been no official word yet on if the app will be discontinued. All people have seen is a notification, which could have been sent in error. Wait until an official announcement is made before jumping to any conclusions.
