The new Samsung 60 model doesnt suffer from IR at all now, don't ask me how they managed to do that but they've done it

ATM there no reason not to opt for plasma (but avoid LG Plasmas). Back then PDPs did have some shortfalls but it's all sorted now. It's the only display we have ATM that provides the deepest blacks and motion resolution close to static resolution.

If you can get a 1080p plasma then please do. If not then opt for an IPS LCD with low input lag.

What size are you looking to get? Vizio's 2014 E-Series like up is very good and definitely affordable.

So far I've heard the E-Series is pretty good with input lag (especially the non-smart tv versions). The M-Series is still unclear. I've seen claims of 40-42ms from testing.

I've also followed a few threads on the AVS forums and one guy has a XO and says the input lag is no problem with his M-Series.

Sony TV's have the best input lag but then your looking at a jump in price as well.

You do get what you pay for, in my opinion. But $400 should get you a ok TV, especially when Black Friday comes around for you..... I have a plasma, 50" Samsung. Paid $1000 fir it 3 years ago. Works great!

Oh well, that Vizio looks pretty appealing though

Depends where you are in the world. I have a 38inch soniq LED tv which costed about $270 which does the job perfectly for gaming. This is in Australia.

Have a Sony KDL40EX720 for my Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. It's fairly good at upscaling Stand Definition. And what I love about it is it has an anti-reflective full HD Display (anti-glare) which means it doesn't reflect like a mirror like some Samsung HDTV's and
it's lighter than some Samsung 40' HDTV's. Sony and Samsung are good brands. Wouldn't trust Transonic/Soniq. And it has 4 HDMI ports many Samsung HDTV's 40' only have like 3 HDMI ports. However it's not as good in terms of brightness compared to Samsung since
a retailer said Samsung really pushes for brightness and it suffers a bit with jaggies. It has practically no input lag tho which is good.

  14. Both Xbox 360 and Xbox One output a 1080p 60Hz Signal so anything doing that will suffice. 720p models are now entry level so have bad IQ and colour as well.
