    What if xbox could repair its own software?


    Hi. We had a storm the other day and it knocked out power in the night. I freaked this morning when my xbox wouldn't turn on. Ive heard stories of complete wipes caused by surges. I unplugged it and its fine now. But the freak out got me to thinking. I know there are certain precautions in place to prevent primary software damage. But what if it does happen? What if xbox could repair itself. What if when data from a power surge is corrupted a small separate and protected drive could check and repair basic code functions (ie. Connectivity, processing) and then send a distress message to microsoft, triggering an automatic system restore. Is something like this already in place and if not, it really should be. I wont pretend to know where to begin. But i would think the brilliant minds at microsoft can do it if anyone.

    Necroscope, I would say if you could hack it and put your own software on it, but at $500, that is not cheap for what's in the box.

    Hiya!!

    There are a lot of things that could cause your XBOX to not boot up correctly. The console goes through a series of not only software checkpoints, but also the DVD drive and the hard drive. Any of those could cause it to fail. Since its not that old, I
    would take it back to the location where you purchased it and exchange it or send it in for repair.

    "It's an internal problem" is what technicians say when they don't know what's wrong. They don't have the proper software or hardware to diagnose issues with the Xbox 360. If anyone has opened your console, then Microsoft won't service it and you're out
    of luck. Try the steps I mentioned. If it doesn't boot with nothing connected to it, then your console is broken and cannot be repaired by normal means. If it has been opened, then you're on your own in terms of repair.
