I basically have one of these from Cogeco:

We got one in 2011 after they stopped using Analog signals in Canada, so the coaxial line comes in to the house and in to that box, then that box outputs in coaxial to my TV set.

Since I have no HDMI output on the cable box, I looked in to getting this:
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msca/en_CA/pdp/Hauppauge-Digital-TV-Tuner-for-Xbox-One/productID.318057000

My question is, will that work for me, or is that adapter ONLY used for OTA signals?

    :)

  2. Xbox One Coaxial Capability/FIOS App

The Xbox one only has HDMI inputs/outputs. It's designed so that you run the coaxial into the cable box, the HDMI cable into the Xbox one, and another HDMI cable from the Xbox One to the TV. I was hoping to bypass the cable box by connecting the coaxial
cable to the Xbox one directly using a Coaxial-HDMI converter.

The reason I ask is because if I can't do this then the TV functionality will be useless to me until after I leave College in four years or so.

That tuner is more for OTA signals than anything. You have one of two options right now for your box.

    1. Contact your cable subscriber and explain the situation to them. They may upgrade your box.

    2. Purchase a coaxial to USB converter from your local electronics store. Be aware that although this is an option you may experience a degraded signal.

Alright thank you for the reply. I've gotten some conflicting answers, some say yes some say no.

I'll leave this thread open for a couple days and I'll contact my provider and see what they say, I highly doubt it, but they may offer one with HDMI out for free versus charging for it.
