What happned to kinect games on XB1?!?

Never had many consoles, but when 360 Kinect came along, I got that one and it took my gaming experience to a whole new level.

We played a lot of kinect sports 1 & 2, especially when having friends over, it was so awesome to set up a bowling alley in your livingroom and go for as long as our hearts desired.

Then came the Xbox 1, I went and bought it as soon as it hit the stores, I payed some $800 for it and I ofc expected what would be an enhanced version of the 360 Kinect.

While the hardware didnt disappoint, the lack of games sure did and still does.

For instance, there's still not a descent bowling game for the XB1 Kinect, all we got is Brunswick which has some weird exploding balls in it (****???) and then Kinect Sports Rivals which doesnt offer plain bowling, but only all sorts of odd variations of it,
that also require you to play other games and tutorials just to be able to play some simple bowling.

Also the game that was bundled with the 360, I think it was called Kinect Experience or something, which featured several different Kinect games, like the one where youre in a cage and hit flying balls to score points by hitting square plate tagets and you
could go solo or 2 at a time.

Well, we still dont have that for XB1 either.... :-/

On top of that, the XB1 has enhanced voice recognition and will respond to a ton of voice commands, but it relies on your selection of country/region and spoken language as not all languages are supported.

Nothing wrong with that, except M$ decided which languages im allowed to be able to speak, according to where I live.

For instance, I live in Denmark, so my screen language is automatically set to Danish once I set my country to "Denmark" and then, im suddenly restricted to Danish only, so despite that we have English as a second language and some of us master that language
pretty well, M$ decided we're not allowed to use it for the XB1 we payed for.

So for us, its no go with voice commands, because M$ wont allow us to speak English.

Ofc I could set my country to something that allows me to set the spoken language to English, but then, it wont allow me to use the marketplace etc., as the XB1 can see by my internet connection, that im not actually located in that country.

So they made a console, thats in every way better than its predecessor, but they locked and restricted it to the extend that renders it totally pointless.

What good is that fantastic kinect sensor when there are no good games for it?!?

What good is that speech recognition when youre not allowed to use it?!?

The two main features that makes this console worth it over just getting any mediocre gaming PC has been totally ruined!!

My XB1 is hardly ever used, I do play Forza 6 on it from time to time as thats one of the only good games for it that I cant get on my PC and at least XB1 works great with the Logitech G920, yet its a rather expensive way of getting just a racing game and other
titles are out for PC which offers more realistic driving experience, though less content, but I do believe we will see those games evolve over time to beat the console raving games in every way.

Getting an XB1 is like getting a Ferrari and put it in a small schoolyard with big massive fences all around it, you got all that power and possibilities, youre just not allowed to put it to use.

Ever since the XB1 came out, ppl have been complaining about the restrictions when it comes to choosing language, but M$ just laugh at our faces and keep things the way they want, because they did get our money and now they dont care two sh*** about delivering
what they initially promised....

I know what you mean about the voice/region, but at least there is a workaround. I'm American, but I live in Ireland. when I set the language to US, it doesn't work for me. When I set it to UK it does so it's no biggie. I think you can set the language on
your Kinect as a different language than where you actually are. My console is set to Ireland, but I keep my language set to UK English.

My Kinect doesn't recognize my face until I put on my headphones lol, then it says "Hi Brandon" haha

There is a game called FRU which is actually pretty good. You should check that out for the Kinect.

 

keep in mind that Kinect game development is no longer a thing so to speak.

Developers can make games that use some Kinect "voice" but skeletal tracking from the camera was removed with the windows 10 update this the refunds for certain Kinect fitness purchases.

This tech was not something that will continue so while I too have a Kinect understand that even more of this tech is not compatible with the Xbox one S.

Just think of it as an IR blaster and a camera while streaming or recording game clips.

 

so not to confuse my comment. Games can still have skeletal tracking BUT let's say you own an Xbox one S console and use the Kinect adapter.

There are things the kinect can't do with the Xbox one S that it can do with the original Xbox one's.

Some users are reporting there's no skeletal tracking but the camera does work. Seems the omission of the port on the Xbox one S is a decision that further removes the tech from the family
