What happened to Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox One?

MS early on decided that they weren't going to differentiate 1 game from another. They were quoted as saying, "games are games are games."

Many of the arcade games from the Xbox 360 are still there, they're just not referred to as "arcade games" - this frees the developers from many of the restrictions that were on the Xbox 360 such as limited achievements, required trials, etc.

On the XBox 360 most XBox LIVE Arcade Games were trivial time wasters for you to throw a bit of money out for a couple of day's worth of distraction.

Fortunately the XBox LIVE Arcade Games on the ONE seem to be much better efforts and of all the XBox Live Arcade Games released on the XBox 360 and the ONE "Peggle 2" has to be the best.

Agreed, My concern though is what happens in 3 or 5 years when XBOX 360 Live is shut down? If it is not all emulated or some how transitioned to XBOX One it will be lost. I'm not talking about Backwards compatibility on XBOX 360 Game discs either. I'm talking
about the 100's of XBOX Live Arcade games.

I totally understand not having backwards compatibility on the Discs...but the Live Arcade stuff? It bothers me as a consumer.

the xbox live arcade games are not going anywhere. The name might,but the games won't. I think what the article is really getting at is that games on demand and xbox live arcade will just become mixed and will go under one name.
