  1. What happened to the controller's battery life?

I am asking this here, because it's uncertain if it's not caused by the Xbox One itself, the new dashboard and/or Preview program that i am in. Here goes:

this has been going on for a while. Lately the battery pack was draining way too fast, so i thought the battery pack was just done for. So yesterday i bought AA batteries from the store, from a good brand and are called superlife. I started using them yesterday
    for a few hours.

Then today i used them again, i then already saw one white bar missing from the battery icon. Only a few hours later, 3 or 4 hours tops and it's already red and saying my batteries are low. WTF? Overall i must have used them for 9 hours , barely 10 hours really.
I remember the times when i got much more than 10 hours out of it.

Battery life for the controller used to be so *** good...it's just so much worse now. Can it actually be my controller causing this? I sure hope the NXE is not causing this. Oh i am also in the Preview program. I also did some searching of myself and apparently
the chat adapter is said to be draining batteries very fast. Well i have been using headphones lately and i need the adapter for that, cause i am still using the very first controller. I could try playing for several hours without the adapter and see how that
goes. However i haven't been using it today and the insane fast draining happened this evening.

    :)

    A Quick Question !?

What if your controller's battery pack is less than a month old? Huh, Microsoft?

Controllers won't turn on at all

Hi SummedCow! Thank you for bringing your problem here, even though i'm sorry to hear about it. Your controller's battery packs might have trouble connecting, this has happened to quite a few people. Even though they do snap in, they might not register.
I would recommend going to a store and buying the rechargable battery packs, only about $25 dollars.

What happened to the controller's battery life?

    Hey mate,

There are a number of variables with battery life. Can come down to the controller, accessories, the type of game you're playing, and the batteries you are using. Generally you can expect a bit more battery life then that, however if you are using an accessory
with the controller, that could be the reason for the shorter life. I use a turtle beach headset, which is powered by the controller, so I get quite a lot less battery life then your average controller.

It could also mean your controller is malfunctioning, so if you have another controller you can test, that would let you know for sure if that is the case

I doubt it would be the preview program of new dash, as I can't see any reason that'd cause an extra drain on the battery life

It does happen though after time, I remember with the 360, the more I'd use a controller and the older it got, the faster the batteries would drain What happened to the controller's battery life? :(

    Cheers

I love it. @ dudeski what battery life do you speak of? And snap is fantastic for getting to party options and friends quickly via voice.

    * edit. You mean controller battery life monitor. Got it. I never paid attention to the one on 360. My controller would just start to disconnect and I knew it was time to plug it in or put the fresh battery in.

I've had the best battery life using Amazon Basics NiMH AA batteries and separate wall charger for the batteries for my controllers. A very minimal investment with a great value for what I'm getting.
