What happened to my gamertag?

As I was signing into Xbox Live My gamertag completely changed. It said it merged accounts with Skype but that shouldn't matter because my gamertag went from JJrules146 to for no reason. I tried to change it back but it says the gamertag
is taken. This is the same account I've been using for almost a year now and I haven't had this struggle until now. I'm highly upset because im sure I didn't violate the rules in any way.

What happened to my account?

Hello, your "profile" is your "gamertag" if it was an online profile. If you had a different gamertag previously, from the looks of your post I'm guessing it was "Roguemant". You will need to download your profile using the e-mail and password associated
with that account. If you can't remember what that e-mail address is you will need to contact phone support and speak with them about this.

Each gamertag can only have one e-mail attached to it, so you would need to use the e-mail associated with the gamertag "Roguemant" to be able to download that "profile" to your XBOX 360 console. If you have access to your previous XBOX still and that that
account is still accessible on that console you will be able to view what e-mail is on that gamertag by going to the XBOX 360 Dashboard > Settings > Account > Manage > Windows Live ID. The e-mail should be listed there, login with that e-mail.

What happened to my Gamertag?

Hey FlaminNimrod! Are you sure that's the error code you're receiving? As there are typically only 8 digit error codes, perhaps there is a 0 missing in there? If you could check and make sure that would be great!

To address the issue of this alternate Gamertag 'WalkingPurse4', I'd suggest logging into the account on your console and changing the Microsoft Account email associated with it. This will hopefully free up your old account to continue to use the email address
you had attached to it!

To change the email associated with that Microsoft Account you can take these steps:

Navigate to the Settings Hub (far right on the dashboard) and select Account.

Navigate to Your Information panel and select Account Security.

Select Change Microsoft Account.

Select Yes once you have created a new Microsoft Account.

Enter the password for your current Microsoft Account.

Enter the Microsoft Account and password you would like to use.

Complete the prompts to save your change.

And one last thing I'd like to add! In case you encounter that 8015D002 error again, there are some steps you can take. Just check out our support article on

It looks like you logged in with a different email and password which created a whole new account. Your GT JJrules146 still exists. You just need to make sure you're
logging in with the correct credentials.

Unfortunately, every time I try to recover my gamertag using the recover profile feature. When I insert my email address/ Microsoft account and password, it always recovers the WalkingPurse4 gamertag which is the one I don't want.

Also, I just tried to rename the gamertag on xbox.com by changing it to FlaminNimrod to check whether they had the tag on their systems, and they said they did so the tag isn't completely gone.

UPDATE: I just tried using my original email and password which was accepted. So my xbox downloaded my FlaminNimrod profile and when I tried to sign into it I get back to my original problem of 83188FB.

This seems to have been created from a bug in the System. You MIGHT be able to recover your old gamertag using the recover profile feature on XBOX. If it has no records of your gamertag's existance, you might need to contact Microsoft or XBOX services about
it. Be sure to include your inqueries and your recent download history. They Might be able to recover it.

Piztup-

The please try again later message you recieve is due to a couple of reasons in my experinces. First, the service is very busy at the time you are trying to recover your Tag, or secondly, there is some maintenance being done on the servers that store
Gamertag info. When this has happened to me in the past, its always worked a few hours or so later.
