What Happened To "General Game Chat" for Parties?

So before the Xbox ONE was released a lot of people were screaming, gobbling, moaning and generally foaming at the mouth about MS not catering to "Hardcore Gamers".

Then when the ONE launched it had an amazing feature that allowed you to select either "party chat" or "in game chat" for your party.

So if a group of you were playing a game that required you to communicate as a Team with your wider Team you just went into Party Chat and selected "Game Chat".

If you wanted to just giggle with your friends, just wanted to have a natter or didn't really care for playing as a Team then you selected "Party Chat".

Unfortunately this was too much for the self proclaimed "Hardcore Gamers" of the Forums who came here in droves to scream, gobble, moan and generally foam at the mouth because 'Party Chat was broken"!

It wasn't. They just weren't bright enough to figure out how to use it.

So since the updates, to give those who have a hard enough saying "XBox Go To Party Chat" a helping hand you automatically default to a private party.

But...

Where's the feature to bring your party into the general game chat gone?

Have they taken this feature away or is it only available for certain games?

How do you know what gamer pictures you are buying in a picture pack?

Asking about something like this, really should be in the General Discussion/Community Discussion areas... but meh...

Gamer pics are avatars for yourself, reflected here on the forum and also in Party Chat and on your friendlist. Like others have said, to buy them, you don't really have a 100% firm idea of what pics you are buying, just a general description of what pics are
in each pack.

While you have the party snapped and selected press the menu button (what was known as the start button on the 360) the option to switch to game chat is in those options aswell as the option to make the party private.

 

It's rather elementary.

Why bury it so deep?

 

It's not really buried. They've just worked hard at creating a more consistent unified interface. The menu (formerly 'Back' on the 360) button is roughly equivalent in operation to the right mouse context I sensitive clicking in Windows. Most things can
have special settings, etc. reached by this exact same method on the XBox One now. I'm more surprised when you are forced to go elsewhere to get to something.
