What Happened to Free Memberships?

What I like to understand is the Xbox One. I've been hearing a lot of talk about how there are only Gold Memberships for it, but what about playing games? Do we honestly have to pay for game time? And what about games that don't need Gold? Is there no Free
Membership on Xbox One's Xbox Live? I think that would be unfair for most people if there isn't one, because what if they can't afford Gold?

There is a page I found saying "When you set up an Xbox One or Xbox 360 console and create a new account, you can access Xbox Live Free membership features, assuming that you have a broadband Internet connection." "Xbox One

With all of these new games coming out, I guarantee that you would be seeing a lot of people sticking with the depressing PC versions of games because of a Live membership that no one wants to waste their money on.

A. You have one chance with each new Microsoft Account, so you have used up that chance.

B. If your Xbox360 has not used up the three chances, you can create a brand new Microsoft Account at
Microsoft account

C. Then use that addresse to convert a no-LIVE, local profile on your Xbox to a new Xbox LIVE account and then sign up for Xbox LIVE Gold. You will see a choice, somewhere in the process, which says NO THANKS - choose that and you will be offered a one month
free trial for Xbox LIVE GOLD.

were you able to create a new Microsoft Account and upgrade a local profile?

 

There are still Gold and Silver accounts available for the Xbox One. Also, if you have multiple people using the console you only need one Gold membership that can be shared out through the people using the console.

 

In addition to onyx62is I'd like to say that you do not need a gold membership to just play games. But if you want to play online multiplayer games or use the social features of xbl like party chat you do need a gold membership.

 

The multiplayer requiring Gold, this I do know; but while playing a regular game in single player, you can still use Xbox Live Free?

 

Single player does not require gold, so you just have to be silver/Free.

Actually, sorry, I do have one more question. For updating the Xbox One, will the Live Silver membership allow it, or does that require Gold?

 

As this updates are essential for your console you do not need gold to update it.
