What gives with some players suspiciously invincible?

I am new to the xbox live scene and my favorites are the military shooter games. I have a long way to go before I become really good on the multiplayer games. My question is, " Why is it that some players seem to be almost invincible?" I have shot foes more
then once dead in the chest, head, or back 4 to 10 times yet they do not go down yet they fire at me afterwards taking me down. I go up behind some to melee taking 4-5 swipes and again, NO EFFECT, and they turn and nail me with no problem. Is there something
about becoming immortal that I am missing? You see those same names over and over again on screen, "So And So Has Made 28 Kills Without Dying" and by the end of the game they are always one of the highest scoring players.. So where can I get some of that immortal
juice? But if it is some how cheating, I want no part of it..

the easy answer is to shoot any random players hanging round suspiciously, just dont shoot more than 2.

Yes, 9 times out of 10 it is cheating.

All call of duty games are full of modders.

Using mods in any way violates the code of conduct and leads to a permanent ban.

You can also get banned for actively participating in modded lobbies, even if you were randomly put into one.

 

Yeah usually someone modding, lag switching. I just find a new lobby when i find those type of players.

 

Thanks for the input Rep. but like I said I am new to live and I have no idea what Mods, Modders or Modded means.How can I tell if that is the case and how do I avoid getting mixed up in that? Any information would be appreciated.

 

I have not played the call of duty games online in a long time, but you will soon get used to how the modded lobbies look.

As you have seen already, when you are in a lobby and you see people with kill figures that are ridiculous, its not even worth starting the game.

If you see people flying round the map, turning invisible or even using in game items straight from the start that you know take a kill streak to earn, all signs of modded lobbies.

Even flashing colourful names in the lobby while waiting to start the game is a sign of modded players.

Your best bet is to go onto youtube and have a look at some of the modded lobbies in action.

Most people have got wise and just stopped playing call of duty altogether.

 

Thanks Owen, I will check that out. What sucks is that I love those games. And I saw exactly what you were describing and it sure smelled rotten to me. I guess I will have to just look for those tags that seem to be on the up side or even groups that are
real and can teach this old dog some new moves. I appreciate the input from both of you, thanks, Robert
