    Hi guys,

    I got a used xbox recently and I knew it didn't work but I thought I can fix it and use it.
    It initially starts up with error E200 which I know is an update issue.

    I thought, easy enough I'm gonna update it with the OSU1 files and it will work, however,
    every time I boot the console (with OSU1, OSU2, Factory Reset files, etc) it always shows me error E101 00000503 80070003

    I was hoping somebody on this subreddit can help me out with this one. What does it exactly mean?
    Is it possible to fix this without the need to buy a new HDD?
    Can I format this one and use it again?

    broken hard drive

    Hey shipmaster, well as you know its a HDD error. It can be caused by one of two things that I'm aware of.

    1, Your HDD is broken.

    2, The port connecting the HDD to the console is broken.

    If you remove the HDD does the console run OK?

    Do you have a friend with a 360?, and if you do would they let you borrow their HDD to see if that's the issue.

    If their HDD works fine then you know its your HDD that's broken. But if their HDD doesn't work either you know the console will need a repair/service.

    I did this when I got this error, because I did not want to go out and buy a new HDD when that may not have been the problem.

    Its something to try anyway.

    250GB HDD (slim) error

    E68 is an HDD error, does not mean it was physically damaged. It can happen for numerous reasons. It will need to be replaced.

    Do you know someone who can give you thier HDD for a few hours ? See if it lags then ? If it doesnt then it means your HDD is broken...
