What do you think of Sunset Overdrive so far?

Hello everyone

This is not an anti-Sunset Overdrive thread because I absolutely love this game

With that being said, is anyone else finding it difficult to get used to " grinding & shooting " at the same time? The reason that I am asking this question is because I played a lot of Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer / Halo Reach and I am having a problem hitting
my targets when I am grinding.

What do you think of the game so far? Thank you very much for your feedback regarding this matter, I really appreciate it

Picked up Sunset Overdrive. Woot! Having a lot of fun with that one so far. Has anyone tried MP yet? What do you think?

Aww Blue, ya got me haha. That was funny.

Sunset Overdrive did what I didn't think any game could do. Take a over the top, flat out goofy game, with outragous enemies and make it fun for me.

Did you ever try Sunset Overdrive?

 

I love it. It is like The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad (the cooks you have to do), GTA and Tony Hawk on steroids rolled into one shiny package.

But all joking aside this actually sounds like good news.

It's nice to hear that it's a game you've got to get to grips with and get used to.

I'm sure that with a little practice you'll be a "Sunset Overdrivasaurus" in no time.

As far as grinding/shooting goes the game has an auto lock that you can't turn off and most weapons do AE damage so hitting targets shouldn't be an issue. Even with the pistol I was killing mutants that I wasn't aiming directly at so the hit detection is
extremely liberal.

I did notice that we don't have much range and bad guys can hit you long before you can hit them, so if you're not hitting them you're probably just to far away.

I noticed that the Pistol has the best range out of all your weapons and the others pretty much required you to enter CQC range.

The pistol has the most range? Are you sure? I actually found it to be rather short - the freeze-gun, bowling ball gun, and the harpoon gun all shoot further than it from what I can tell. Still getting in close is half the fun!

Wow, this game is awesome!

If you're still struggling Leifang here are a couple of tips.

Squeeze the LT button when you want to shoot someone. It slows things down a little and lets you aim.

Get a good high grind on... and use the X button to swap directions (sometimes you'll have to point the stick). This allows you to go back and forth over the same group of enemies until you've got them all.

Don't try and fight people on the ground. Tried it once... not happening. If you want something on the ground, do jump down, Hold "B" and do a melee slam... but then ignore enemies in favour of finding your way back to the lofty heights again.

When you run out of ammo, swap to a different weapon.

Speaking of weapons... different weapons are better suited to different enemies. Your hand gun is much more suited to Scabs whereas your other guns have better stopping power against Ods.

It's like "Tony Hawk's Dead Grinding 3" in a "Crazy Taxi" style.

Awesome game.

I have died about a zillion times already and I still can't " grind & shoot " decently as I do my shooting on foot on the ground while using my Air Dash to get around because your running speed (for lack of a better word) is notoriously slow.

Hey Leifang

If you're not used to using a fork you can probably put food into your mouth holding it the wrong way round.

But if you hold it properly you'll get much more out of your fork.

So why not stop trying to kill enemies for a minute and try getting the hang of grinding.

Don't worry about shooting. Just grind.

Try these following steps:

- Try to get on the Electricity wires that line the streets.

These are long and you can see where you are going, so it's a low pressure grind.

- Try pushing the X button and pushing in the opposite direction you are grinding itn

This will allow you to simply start going back the way you came. You could find a long line of wire and grind backwards and forwards for ages.

- Try pushing the X button but not changing direction.

This will let your character hang. Push it again and you'll hop up to a foot grind again.

Do this for a while. Ignore the enemies and just working on getting comfortable grinding.

Once your comfortable grinding... then try squeezing the Left Trigger as you grind which allows you to aim and shoot. It's not that hard.

Remember.... even if it takes you a day to master grinding and shooting... it's worth it to enjoy the game for the rest of your life.

Finally, if you insist on holding your fork backwards because "that's what works best for you"... don't be surprised when people look at you funny!

I have already mastered the art of Grinding only

The problem that I am having is combining the Grinding, Shooting, and Dodging enemy attacks all at the same time. I am slowly getting better at it, but it still takes me a lot of deaths to complete missions because of the hard time that I am having with
the Grind, Shoot, and Dodge all at the same time combo.
