What do you mean by "verify your account" while it's already verified ?

You will want to sign into account.live.com and click on "edit security info" after verifying your account using the proofs that are currently on your account, you will have the options to update and verify your proofs, don't forget to turn off TSA. Then
you will want to clear cache, cycle console power, and download your profile.

orik0n is on the right path here. Just in case you need links to help you through this, here's the steps to follow:

• Check to ensure that all of your Security Proofs are valid and up to date.
  
• Check to see if you have Two-Step Verification enabled. If you do, be sure to properly set up the app password. If you don't want to use the app password,
  be sure to disable Two-Step Verification.
• Optional: Copy your Gamertag over to an Xbox 360 formatted USB drive for safe keeping before the next step.
  
• Delete your profile ONLY (do NOT delete profile and items).
  
• Clear your system cache 3 times in a row. It sounds odd but 3 times in a row can help clear up stubborn issues like this.
  
• Restart your console.
• Download your profile.
  

The purpose of this is just to get everyone's account security up to date. Once everything is set up properly you shouldn't have to worry about it anymore and you can rest assured that your account is secure. Let us know if you have any questions. =)

Also why all of a sudden are my children receiving messages when logging into xbox saying they need an adult to verify account?? My children's accounts have been created years ago with no issues. I do not what to pay £0.50 per account to verify. The fact
that they are linked to my account and payments are made through my account via credit card should be enough. This only affects 2 of my 3 children's accounts though. Why not the third?

While I don't know why your accounts need to be verified all of a sudden, you should know that you do NOT pay £0.50 per account, but you pay £0.50 ONCE to verify YOUR account to be an adult account, and that it's not a kid that stole your
credit card to verify an adult account the kid created to be able to change their child accounts without your parental knowledge, as you would recognize a £0.50 charge on your credit card bill, that you haven't authorized.

After your account was verified to be an adult with your consent, you don't need to verify each and every child account you add. So the £0.50 are a one time payment, and these £0.50 do NOT go into the "Make Microsoft Richer"
funds, but are added as credit to your account, if I remember correctly.

Make sure that your security proofs on account.live.com are verified on both ms accounts. You need to have two verified proofs on your account, verified meaning it sent a code to it and you have entered the code back on that webpage. Security proofs can
prevent many processed from happenening the same as currency on the account will.
