What do you guys think about Destiny so far?

At present it's probably the single worst MP experience I've ever had on any game , Bungie might just as well have locked out MP until you finish the story , instead they unlock it at lvl 5 , at that level your just cannon fodder for the lvl 20+ players

as of yesterday, i'm now disappointed, the game is a little on the short side, and didn't give me any reason to care about what was going on with the characters or plot, i'm currently about to hit level 23, and have only encountered 1 public event, i have
found only 1 legendary engram and got a strange coin from it(very disappointed about that).

i have found nothing exciting about the game after level 20, higher level strikes just means higher level bullet sponges with very little reward, the only gear i have that "tells my story" is the rifle you get for beating the story... that everybody gets...

only played a few games of Control in PvP, after adjusting my skills and weapons, i had no trouble with it, but it's just not that exciting to me and doubt i'll be able to play more than a few rounds at a time.

hadn't played a raid yet, but i'm not holding my breath that it'll be much better than a strike.

 

The MP is the epitome of mediocre

 

I kind of agree that it should of been locked until you finish the story mode, just as a great equalizer.

I have to say though that all the weapons, regardless of level are (relatively) balanced out. Your damage and armor and other stats are "balanced" across the board in the crucible (not accounting abilities, which is a whole other ball game). The only time
your stats actually matter is during the Iron Banner event, where all of your levels actually will make a difference.

What makes balance actually hard to determine is the effectiveness of a particular setup vs. the skill of the player vs. the knowledge of the player regarding the game itself (such as knowing the ins and outs of a particular level), as well as the current
mood of the player.

 

That is not what I've experienced , unloading a full clip into some guy with little to no effect , only to be blown away by a couple of rounds , something is seriously amiss with this .

It's definitely fun, no doubt. I'll probably stay away from PvP, but mostly all of the other game mechanics I like. While there is always room for improvement, overall, I think it was done well.

 

Over hyped, solid game. And I am sure the Game Magazines will have it overrated. As stated numerous times, to each their own.

 

I enjoy it for the most part. There's some things I disagree with like no text based chat and limited voice chat (Not sure who thought that was an amazing idea when they're promoting the game as an mmofps). After playing MMOs and grindy games for as long
as I have most of it in this game isn't really that bad. This is probably the lest out of everything I've played.

 

@ tCruzin Good point bringing up ME 3. Destiny's co-op is way more developed than ME 3's, and look how long that lasted. Destiny reminds a lot of Phantasy Star Universe and that lasted I think at least 3 years (maybe longer). Once people settle in and accept
this game for what it is (which is not story, but action driven), there will be less discontent with it. Those who like the mechanics and style will stay and enjoy it, and those who don't will leave.

Farming and grinding for that next amazing piece of gear and weapon, is what this game is all about. I recognize that. Have seen it before. ...and can be addicting. lol

 

I think the PvP multiplayer in Crucible is actually pretty good - better than many other shooters that I could name. It's polished through and through - there's just not much there. As for weapon balance, some weapons take a few shots to kill you (auto-rifle,
hand-cannon, scout rifle, pulse rifle, grenades, and melee), while others, if used correctly, can kill you instantly (shotgun, fusion rifle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, light machine gun, and specials).

Now, look at that list again:

A few shots

all primary weapons, grenades, and melee

One-shot

everything else plus certain specials

What makes this interesting, is the one-shot kill weapons aren't always one-shot; they have to be used skillfully or properly in most cases:

shotgun (must be up-close)

fusion rifle (must be pre-charged)

sniper rifle (must be a headshot)

rocket launcher (usually only one shot; slow to reload)

light machine gun (must maintain line of sight)

The abilities work similarly:

nova bomb (slow to use)

radiance (only upgrades other abilities)

fist of havoc (slow to use at range or risk getting in close)

ward of dawn (completely defensive - strangely, I haven't seen anyone use this at all in Destiny)

golden gun (relies on player accuracy; only 3 shots)

blade dance (only works in melee distance)

It's actually pretty simple - use your primary weapons at medium ranges, special weapons at close or long range (depending on your selection), your heavy weapons when you're outnumbered, and your grenades around corners. Your special abilities will vary as
shown above.

Consider this a mini-guide to learning the basics of the crucible.

 

I love the crucible. It's pretty fun. Sure, you'll get *** sometimes by those Destiny no lifes but then I'll just own kids. I'm enjoying it a lot so far.
