What do you guys think about Destiny so far?

I'd have to agree with Pyramid, this game has given me the itch to go back to Borderlands.

The biggest issue for me is the inability to easily group. I could deal with the horde mode style missions and there repetitiveness if I could do them in groups. Adding a 100 people to my friends list, finding friends my level on list, sending messages "interested
in doing Venus missions?" is way more work than it needs to be.....a matchmaking system would at least make this game playable for me.

The "professional" reviews aren't looking good and I agree with them. I think the only reason we are seeing the 7-8 reviews is because the game is graphically stunning and the gunplay is well done it's lacking everywhere else.

I purchased the 90 dollar version so I'm hoping for some serious improvements before the expansions but I could very easily see this game going the route of "Too Human".

Do you think it would be a waste for me to spend $30 on the game of the year edition to get all the add ons and to play with my friend to be fresh for borderlands 2 or do you think I should just save my money and wait for the second one to come out since
its in a couple months?

I would definitely say buy it, you will want to know what's fully going on when Borderlands 2 comes out

 

^^You dont need 100 friends. Just a few would do. I am sure some of the regulars here would be happy to play with you.

I have a dozen or more people on my friends list playing Destiny (or were some have already gone back to Minecraft and Diablo).

Needing a 100 was an exaggeration but with such small fireteam limits finding someone your level who's doing missions/strikes (and wants to co-op) that isn't already grouped with 2 other people can be time consuming.

 

Oh yeah I agree with that. If I wasnt so anti social I would play with you. But I drink and cuss like a drunken sailor.

 

Good game but pretty much have to play it solo. Was in a group and when we are about to go and do quests or whatever, I got kicked out with no notifications or anything and was placed in a mission I already did.

Maybe its me and just nobody wants to play with me. Getting frustrated not able to play in co-op games.

I was on the fence for this game until I played the beta - it convinced me that the game is both a grind and a great game and for me at least, worth purchasing. I played through the initial missions in the beta and got to rank 8 (the max rank in the beta)
very quickly and asked myself, "now what?" Because of this, I quickly felt like there wasn't much there, like many of you do now with the full-release. Interestingly enough, this is where I REALLY started having fun with the game. Because there "wasn't much
left to do," I started trying other things - I played multiplayer and got really good at it - I took part in the Iron Banner towards the latter half of the beta and received a unique piece of equipment; I helped others level up and made many new friends in
the process; I tried another character with a different class setup with completely different abilities; I learned about things I had missed, like the 5 golden chests and the unique sparrow you unlock for finding them - so I pursued them fervently; I tried
to find many dead ghosts too, and did; I tried to unlock as many of the grimiore cards to say I had more than everyone else (and I did); friends and I tried to find ways to parkour all over the Tower and were quite successful (we managed to get to the top
of the tarp over the Iron Banner gate; I played soccer with complete strangers; I tried to purchase as many ships and emblems as I could; I tried to figure out which weapons were the best in each of their categories by process of elimination and experimentation;
I danced with over 30 different players at once; I tried to do speed-runs through restricted areas with monsters that could kill you in 1 shot; I learned about a group of enemy bikers that you could encounter only at certain times, so you could steal one of
their bikes and suddenly have a speeder with guns; etc. - all of this and more helped me realize that this game (and the game's world) is much bigger and better than most players seem to realize - and this was just ONE area featured in the beta!
As of today, I have reached level 8, and can't wait to see what the other worlds, character levels, multiplayer modes and maps, equipment, secrets, smartglass features, players, and various other character builds help provide.

... and to add on top of that, Bungie has made a 10-year commitment to this game's franchise! This means that even if you truly don't believe me and think this game is rather miniscule with what you can or can't do, there will be plenty more coming down
the pipeline that will be involving the Destiny universe. I for one, knowing what Bungie has accomplished in the past, and knowing what I've experienced thus far with the Destiny beta, am absolutely excited to see what else they bring to the table, along with
all of their well-hidden in-game secrets that they're so well known for.

So far, in my book, they've more than succeeded. I'm sorry many of you can't seem to see that - if you can't, I truly believe you're missing out on pursuing what could otherwise be... A great Destiny.

Dammm right. That is why games like this and TF do not get much play from me. Still have Destiny in plastic sitting on my shelf.

 

^ Once you get to level 16ish there is a matchmaking playlist that will automatically team you up with similar level players.

I have the game and at this point only played it alone. I have limited friends and dont have a clue how to find multi players, not having much fun. Anyone on tonight who wants to friend or invite me. thanks

Hello everyone

I love this game, but Destiny doesn't even come remotely close to being as " hard to stop playing " like Diablo Classic on my Xbox 360.

Diablo 3 Classic is my kryptonite because I played it for almost a year straight (and I'm still playing it now). Grinding in Destiny leads me up to playing Diablo 3 Classic.

With that being said, I love the story so far and I can't wait to find out what happends next. At the moment, I'm on the Level 12 Story Mission (it is the 3rd story mission on Venus).

I am going to take a little break from Destiny to level up Princess Mia (Female Witch Doctor, Level 60 Paragon Level 18).

I hit level 18 tonight and have to say, the more I play this game, the more I like it.
