what do each button on the console do? x, y, a, b? is this told anywhere?

They can vary by game or what you're doing. A is typically the button you'll use to select something and B is typically cancel. Games will usually have a tutorial or controller layout in their menu to show you what each button is for.

Unless you purchased a modded controller, the a,b,x,y buttons do not light up. The home button does and its brightness can be adjusted from the controller settings in the console.

There is no lights on the a,b,x,y buttons on the Elite controller. The only light is the Xbox button, when you turn the console on.

I recently just bought a new Red xbox one controller and noticed there are four dots inside the A, X, Y, B buttons. The dots seem to follow the same layout as the buttons. Do these coincide with Google Home? What do these dots mean? Do they carry
any functionality?

The dots are just there to correspond to the associated color of the button.

After you pick you fighters for controller 1 and 2 you can input the Kombat Kodes at the versus loading screen.

Controller 1 buttons X, Y, B are the first three spots and controller 2 buttons X, Y, B are the last three spots
