What did you think of Xbox E3?

if they do end up partnering up with oculus or vive theres no way in hell a srorpio and vr bundle will be under $700 but they are not dumb enough to force people to buy vr when the majority of people really have no interest in it at this point in time including
myself believe it or not microsoft actually has the upper hand right now all they have to do is watch playstation vr and if it goes well thats when you announce a way more powerful vr experience with oculus or vive at e3 2017

 

Everything I see going forward is OPTIONAL...we should be embracing that. Happy with what you have? Stick with it. You still will have new game releases and will have a growing amount of BC games as well. Want to get a box with better media capabilites?
Get that one (with three HDD OPTIONS to choose) You can play your games and get 4k streaming and UHD blu-ray player included. Want the heavy duty gaming rig (likely to have the 4k media features and/or VR capabilities)? Wait for that option. Like the controllers
you have? Cool. Want to add some artsy-fartsy custom colors and engraving...go for it, like the heavy duty, hardcore elite controller, bust a move (many have). As long as all the games are compatible with each machine (albeight with different resolutions based
on their respective circuitry) then I am happy to have options available.

Yes. Yes they are dumb enough to do that.

They tried to force kinect on everyone when far more gamers had no interest in it what so ever.

Plus, I think it will just give them an excuse as to why their new console is priced so high when it comes out.

 

^Don Mattrick was dumb enough...I don't see Phil Spencer making that same mistake. Also, in addition to VR options we seem to be forgeting all the AR work MS has been doing. I can see an optional AR accessory for Scorpio, maybe they have a version 2.0 in
the pipe with more power and a greater FOV?

 

phil spencer is not stupid the proof is in the pudding ever since he took over xbox has been killing it they wont risk throwing all there hard work away the scorpio is microsoft realizing they lost the X1/PS4 Battle in terms of console sales now they are
on the offensive im really interested to see how sony responds because there only making xbox better

 

Doc. I should say sony are sat scratching their heads at the moment. You know they won't want to be outdone by ms, sony's main advertisement from the beginning of this gen was all about them having the most powerful console with the PS4, and that among other
thing's is what most people wanted.

Now though, with sony already invested in their own VR, I'm sure they won't want to redesign the neo at this point and potentially throw more money at that. Despite how well the PS4 has done, sony haven't got cash to throw around. So yeah, it'll be interesting
to see what sony do, maybe they're so confident that they won't alter anything and settle for having a much less powerful console.

 

@Goatsnatcher its obvious why neo was not at e3 they seen the leaked scorpio specs but the problem sony is still facing even if they match scorpio in specs is back compat microsoft on the other hand has a system in place where as sony does not so what does
that mean for all base ps4 owners including myself and then psvr comes into play like you said they might have to just ride it out they invested alot of money and time into psvr and neo to just scrap neo and i dont see them having 3 different consoles with
3 different vr experiences on them microsoft really put them into a tough spot

 

Doc. Yeah, it's not a position I'd like to be in tbh. I can see some serious discussions between sony and their investors over the coming month's. And the whole back compatible thing, yeah I never thought of that.

I don't know, sony have a huge fanbase to be able to ride this out. There will always be people who follow the most powerful console and that's obvious, but sony has some real loyal supporters that won't budge. If I had money to burn, I'd be preordering
all the new tech from both ms and Sony.......Unfortunately I don't though and I really want a Gtx 1080 and the X1s at the moment, I think the wife would be questioning me if I spent a load of cash on more consoles on top of them.

 

To be fair the neo specs are only rumours at this point so who knows, Microsoft might have shot themselves in the foot announcing scorpios specs this early, I cant see Sony wanting to lose the performance edge considering how far its brought them.

I think its safe to say that Scorpio isn't going to bring about any major changes within the current install base of both platforms though, the majority wont want to leave behind libraries and friends etc.

 

I don't know tbh, people were willing to leave xbox behind when they found out the PS4 was going to be a tiny bit more powerful that the X1. This forum was an absolute mess when that happened, people who had been around xbox for years were angry and upset
because the X1 was "underpowered" compared to the competition. Don't get me wrong, that wasn't the only reason people moved to the PS4 but it was a major factor. So I definitely think some old faces will show up here again praising Microsoft lol.

But I agree that there won't be any massive change to the install Base, but I do think ms will close the gap a fair bit by just having a more powerful console.......If the supposed specs of the neo are true and stay the same that is.

 

But back then you were leaving your games behind anyway just moving to a new gen, its going to be interesting at least.

 

time will tell either way im happy as a fan of both xbox and playstation like i said before playstation is the main reason why the xbox brand is so good same goes for sony i hope whatever sony ends up doing turns out great because that will only drive microsoft
to do even better which is great as its my prefered console when the competition dies thats when you start to have real problems

I think Microsoft has let Xbox One owners down. Badly.

They don't seem to know what to do with the Xbox One, it's barely started it's life and it's pretty done and dusted with Project Scorpio 18 months away.

And as for Xbox Play anywhere, WHY??? I have a console so I can play my games on my Big TV in my front room with my surround sound system.

I could understand and almost get excited about streaming PC games to my Xbox One, but not the other way around.

 

I play pc that I play on a big tv in my living room, sat in my comfy chair. Play anywhere means I can buy a game and play it on my pc (in the living room), while my son can play the same game on his X1 upstairs.
