    What can I do to play the original Halo (on disk) on an XBOX 360?


    Is buying an "official" Microsoft hard drive the price to pay? Does the official hard drive still come with the emulator to play old backwards compatible games? Why is the emulator not downloadable on a "regular" hard drive?

    Or do I need to hit the antique stores in search for an original XBOX? About the same price as the cheapest "official" Microsoft HD...

    Please help. I love the original Halo games. Thanks.

    An original, official MS brand 360 hard drive is required to play any backwards compatible games on the 360. So yes, that would be the "price to pay". I'm not sure why the emulator is not downloadable for a regular hard drive.

    I played the original XBox version of Halo 2 on my 360 last year in the month before Halo 4 came out. So yes, to corroborate what others are saying, I can tell you that it works and I have done it on the original 360 system and 360 slim, both working without
    any problem, although to play original XBox games it will force you to sign out of Live.

    Campaigns are best in 1-3. I found ODST, Reach, and 4 to be kinda bland in comparison, so I recommend playing the first 3.

    Do you have a Hard Disk Drive installed on your 360? Original Xbox games will not function on the Xbox 360 unless there is one installed (the reason being, I suspect, is that it has to go through an emulation process - this is also the reason why some Original
    Xbox titles are incompatible with the Xbox 360).

    If this is not the issue (and you are using an HDD), what errors are you getting when trying to play the game disc?

    So I have an xbox 360 slim and a 20 GB Hard Drive and after updating the software, the only xbox original game I can play is Halo 2. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
