What are your thoughts with the Xbox One Slim?

If it was black I would get it. I live in a high desert 6150' above sea level and it's dusty here. White is not good for where I live.

 

@ Jambo I see what you did there, yes maybe an unfortunate choice of words, but you know what I mean!

 

@ Fullhornet I completely agree with your op. I also will be purchasing the Scorpio for the man cave when we finally move into our new house in August. Depends on my older son, if he has to take advanced courses over the summer if we move in early August
or late August.

I'm not a fan of the white, they should have it in black also. I bought my current X1 right after they dropped the Kinect and got the extended warranty which will run out just about the time the Scorpio is supposed to be released. I think I will wait for
that and hopefully it not white. Even better would be color options like they are going to do with the controllers.

 

i don't like the white, and that it doesn't have a Kinect port.

don't care about being able to stand it up, i prefer horizontal, don't care about the internal power supply, don't care that it is 40% smaller, don't care about the HDD choices as i have a 3Tb external with a hybrid HDD drive, don't care about 4k since i
don't have a 4k TV because there is not enough 4k media to justify the purchase.

i did see an article saying that HDR games will run better on the X1 S than the OG X1, depending on the difference in the performance, i might get an S when my day one console dies, and only if it comes in black.

 

What exactly is HDR and how is it supposed to make it better?

 

I don't understand how the US can price it at $299 but yet in the UK they're charging £349 which to put in perspective is $496. Do they realise that the exchange rate goes the other way? That means they're almost charging double the price

My current x1 works perfectly fine and I am not a fan of the x1 slim being white. Plus it is not going to be til 2018 when I plan on getting a 4k tv so the 4k features would be pointless and the scorpio will be out before I even have that 4k tv.

 

My two X Box One consoles work fine, so it's a wait and see "Scorpio" before possibly adding a third; also have to see what the competition has to offer.

If the controller offered Bluetooth for headsets I'd probably pick one up.

Things I don't like about the S...

1. White. Blah!

2. Internal power supply.

3. No loyalty! My sense of entitlement believes M.S. should just give me one for being loyal! ;-)

If one of my original consoles went down I wouldn't worry about replacing it. If both went down...I'd probably buy a S until the new model came out.

The XB1 is an ugly console but I really like the fact that it is, it is always hot were I live and overheating electronics is just part of life. I've never worried about the vcr looking Xb1, i always have with the PS4.

 

I don't ever plan on buying the S model unless my launch day XBOX One breaks down. I also really don't care for white consoles.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is essentially a more true and corrected level of Colors and the Black Value. Remember the the "black crush" argument seen on the Xbox 360 and early trailers of even BF4 on the Xbox One? That is in part due
to not having a large enough range for accurate colors in a given black value.

In short, HDR will produce a cleaner and more accurate colored picture without sacrificing black values.

 

My thoughts are why in the hell are they playing yo-yo with the colors of these consoles? 360, White. 360 Elite/S, Black. XB1, Black. XB1S, White... how hard could it possibly be to offer a color choice, given how often I see comments from people who determine
just how long it will be (IF at all) before they will get the newer version based on color? I don't like the white and it's made my decision to not bother until my current console dies very easy.
