What are your thoughts on the black ops 3 beta?

The good - They nerfed the jet packs. The three maps seem decent enough.

The bad - I'm not a fan of the special abilities. They are awkward and unbalanced for certain game modes. The guns are alright but I prefer traditional guns (AK, M4, mp5, Barrett, ppsh, m1 carbine, browning, ect

The ugly - Perks seem limited. Kill streaks are boring and easily destroyed. Jet packs and wall running are still in the game.

It looks like another 14 months until COD can make its comeback. Considering it is IWs turn and theu brought back a COD 4 Dev, we might be seeing a remastered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or a Call of Duty: Captain Price Collection.

I would gladly spend $60 on all of the MW1/MW2/MW3 maps/dlc Remastered and repopulated with Dev support. There were so many enjoyable weapons, perks, maps and score streaks from those games.

I have to say the campaign footage that was shown today at E3 wasn't impressive or new at all. The sniper rifle could "charge" to offer high penetration (lol), but it looked like the same ol' business. I still have faith in this being a good CoD, I just
want to see some MP/Zombie/Strike Force footage.

The hackers always ruin a call of duty. I still wonder how treyarch still keeps hackers away in black ops. It is my only playable call of duty now. Even though black ops 2 is in the future, If it is hack free then I can stand it. I have taken a break
from call of duty and found many other games just as hacked up as older cod titles.

 

I would kill for a waw an cod4 remaster at this point there into deep now to go back to that

 

Played the beta briefly and my first impression isn't good. Graphically it's underwhelming. It's a mish-mash of lots of fps games all thrown into the mix and none of it really works.

COD has completely lost its roots, its identity, and gets gradually worse with each new game.

It's just not fun to play anymore. They just need to release a remastered modern warfare collection with all dlc and then end COD for good.

 

^The beta feels like titanfall/destiny/blops had an ugly baby.

The collection is inevitable. If that is the next release I could probably play that game for a few years...or until a proper cod/new fps is introduced to the market.

 

I took some time away from the Call of Duty games, last one I played was MW3. So it freshened things up for me and I liked the beta, thought it was fun. I do miss it being set in WW or Modern Warfare though, not really liking the futuristic stuff.

 

It's pretty horrible; really don't like the direction they went with the multiplayer and the beta constantly freezes and crashes.

 

I hate it, I don't know if I'm getting old but I can't be bothered to keep up with people flying all over the screen and what is with the floating maps? Why have they all got places to fall off it

 

I think it is decently fun. I have no problem with the jet packs and wall running as long as they are done well. And this game does them decently. But here are my big issues:

1. Lag. Even with open NAT it is there. And then for people like my son who have open NAT on the Xbox and other games but are stuck with moderate on this it can be terrible. He gets lag spikes. Ping will go from 17-400s and back randomly. And it just
plays terrible. Bad enough for me sometimes but unplayable for him. No problems with any other games like this.

2. Hit detection. Need to tighten the hit boxes. Sure, lag is playing a part and the lag comp. is not doing a great job and actually can interfere when the connections are good. But the issue is there is still some issues with the bullets it registers
as hits. No reason that bullets that hit the wall, and obvious for both players, should result in a headshot. And much less when the shots are knee and below. But that is another COD thing.

3. Spawning. Why would I spawn right behind the enemy? I have done that. Of course it has went the other way as well. I died to an airstrike (that happens a lot to me). I spawn almost where I died but away enough I am behind the player going for the
tags (kill confirmed). Same happens in team death match. No a good situation.

4. The amount of kill streaks. Especially UAV. The thing is though there is an issue. Other COD games have had it. But I have been in a few matches where from the beginning there were non-stop "Enemy ________________" going on. It was constant. No
break. Something had to be off because not even enough scoring was done when it started. Outside of that need to make the UAV personal maybe or limit it in some way to make it more tactical for when and how to use it. That way a good team has to plan how
they want to use these streaks or something.

I know they have time to fix some of this stuff. But the majority will be there when complete. Lag may look a little better. And the issue is that COD has had these issues for a while. And they just leave them. They also have 2 years to work the games.
Why is it that the issues carry over? The next installment typically feels like the previous one with some things added on. Sliding, then sliding improved. Jet packs, then jet packs improved. And the few things they add that are new. Never seems to be
anything major though.

 

Its ok, still feels like a tired *** Call of Duty game. Its time they take a few years off. This game needs a vacation, its old and tired and not the same horse. I wish they would do a fantasy style COD game, imagine calling in air strikes from a dragon,
or arrow volleys, hell you could even have a UAV but it would be gnomes on griffons looking down on the battlefield.

You can add attachments to your bows,crossbows swords, not lasers but things like cat-tails for the bow ( make the draw snap quiet ) or different style blade for your swords, like serrated, curved, double blades fire,ice lightning dark energy. The possibilities
are endless but that would require taking a creative edge on the project and Activision doesnt like leaving their comfort zone, so we will never have a game like that.

 

One other thing. What is with that robot? I have seen a bunch running that. That arm gun is amazing. I had a player sprint past. Aim and shoot. Well, my shots indicated to the player I am there. And this player proceeds to do an instant 180 and kill
me in an instant. The spin up is so fast and the aiming/turn was just instant. What is that about? I have seen a few running that and they are almost unstoppable. Taking rockets and bullets like it is nothing. Wow.

 

To be fair I went into this already half expecting not to like it as I lost interest in COD along time back and I didn't like it.

TBH I didn't play for more than a few hours and as mentioned above. To me it felt like they were trying to make it more like Titanfall but it played no-where near as good.

Definitely not a buy for me. I think the only way I could be tempted to go back to COD is if they went back to World War 2, get rid of all the stupid perks etc and get back to the fun of playing.

Wouldn't even mind a Call of Duty 2 remaster.

 

I had a laught at Duke's expense - in his very 1st post, he says wall-running is back in the game. Well, Dukes, I've got news for you! Wall-running has NEVER been in a CoD game before, which means it's not coming back at all - it's an entirely new feature!
Advanced Warfare doesn't have wall-running (although it does admittedly have the "jetpacks" as you call them - they're called exo-suits in that game, BTW) and never has! Sure, Titinfall and other games have had it, but never in a CoD title.

...I know this, and I'm not even participating in the beta! *SMH*

 

Call of Duty 2 was a great game. We use to play 4 player split screen. Bottom two scores give up their controller.

I think we are over due for a WWII game. When I got into gaming it seems like the older gamers were tired of WWII...but it has been 6 going on 7 call of duties since the WWII era. I imagine most of todays gamers haven't even played a WWII multi-player.
It's all lazer beams, jet packs and special abilities.
