What are your thoughts on Gamefly?

I used Gamefly in the past and they were good at first and then it was hard to get a game. That was 5+ years ago, I picked up Gamefly again and they sent me COD AW and Tomb Raider, both were in my top two games. So far so good!

I use to buy tons of games and then I didn't like them or I would get board of them and trade them in. I think Gamefly is a great way to test a game and if I like it I will buy it and if I don't like it I can just send it back. I did not like COD AW, I
thought the story was good, but I did not like the online play. So just on that one rental alone I saved myself $35.

P.S. I still do buy games, I bought 15 games for the PS4 in a year and I bought 1 game for my Xbox One so far. (Halo Master Chief Collection). And I just bought the Xbox last week.

Don't know why they released this they've ripped so much out off the level that its barely Alpha testing never mind beta its gonna do the game more damage than releasing nothing

There are 44 character slots total. 3 are taken by custom characters. A few slots are wasted e.g. each form of Buu has his own slot. Super Gogeta is in a different slot to SSJ4 Gogeta.

That's all I can think off but there may be one or two other examples.

 

If you like the game, why would you buy it? can't you keep them as long as you want with Gamefly?

I wish they had a Gamefly here.

As cool as Gamefly is, they are part of the reason the industry is the way it is. They are definitely not good for developers.

 

My thoughts on Gamefly? Stellar service. Used it for games I wanted to try out but didn't want to splurge individually to get them. And who knows - maybe I'd play something that I'd eventually get for my own.

Sad that they don't service my area anymore.

 

I tried them for a few months, this was probably 6-7 years ago. I never really cared for it. I don't have a whole lot of free time, and I like going from one game (finish it) then to the next. Gamefly doesn't really help with that compared to owning the
games.

 

@brandeisel1, the industry is why Gamefly exists. They put out too many bad games. There is nothing worse then putting down $60 and the game you just bought sucks. Or it is super short.

Gamefly does let you keep the game as long as you want. But games like Oblivion, Skyrim, Dragon Age, COD (when it use to be good) Battlefield ect, take tons of time to play/beat. You would not want to rent those games.

Gamefly hurts the industry as much as used game sales do. They hurt it, but at the same time they can be beneficial. I've bought a million used games, but this gen I've decided to only buy new.

 

@brandeisel1, I have no problem paying $60 for every game I play if its worth the $60 price tag. But the simple fact is its not the case, I can not even tell you how many $60 games I bought and play it for a few hours and ended up taking it back to gamestop
and losing $30 the same day I bought it. Just recently I bought Destiny for PS4, I played it a day and a half before I could not take it anymore. I ended up losing $20 on the game.

P.S. When developers make a good game I buy a copy for the Xbox and PlayStation. Because I like beating games on both systems!

 

I agree not all games are worth their asking price. I've been burned many times. They should have demos for all games.

 

Never used Gamefly. Rented often from Blockbuster back when actually going out to rent something was a thing.

With even more limited gaming time than ever, I doubt the service would be worth the price, though I would like to try it.

 

I wonder if Gamefly could ever have a digital service in renting games. Sort of how Netflix began as renting hard copies through the mail then evolved into completely digital through an app.

 

Xurts - I don't think the console manufacturers will allow such a service from a third party.

 

I tried a free month of gamefly years ago and liked it, but I decided not to continue with it as I didn't feel like paying every month.
