What are your One X thoughts now that you have it?

I love it. I have the Scorpio Edition and I like the fact that the colour slowly changes to grey on the right side and it's not all black. Nice touch.

It is a lot faster on the home screen. Super smooth. It would be cool if the UI was in 4k, but it's not and that is okay.

I have noticed much faster load times in Mass Effect: Andromeda. The first time I started it up and loaded a save it didn't really seem faster, but every launch and load after the first time have been much quicker. That is a big plus for me.

The graphics on a 4k game like Assassins Creed Origins is just ridiculously good, especially the main character you play. Just amazing.

In regards to HDR, I'm annoyed because when I bought the TV the guy in the store said it supports HDR10. I had a chat with Samsung support on the computer and they also confirmed that the model did support HDR 10 so I bought it. Well, according the the console
my tv does not support it. I was not able to select HDR in the AC Origins menu. The TV does have it's own HDR+ mode that when selected it looks awesome.. It seems to be making MA Andromeda way better even though that game doesn't support HDR. Same with AC.
It's night and day with it on. Maybe this tv option is okay and I do not need it to support HDR10? Maybe someone can confirm? I had the telly for about 30 days before the launch so I cannot take it back.

Dolby Atmos is just incredible. I wonder if it will also work on my headsets if they are plugged into my controller?

The console does get quite warm though so that scares me lol, but it's not too hot so hopefully that's normal.

It also seems like it downloads games slower than the One even games that have no 4k assets to download. Also, the network transfer was actually slower than just redownloading them despite the downloads taking longer than before.

Overall, I love it and I really like how the buttons on the controller are all black. I was never a fan of the red, blue, green and yellow buttons.

Don't know why they released this they've ripped so much out off the level that its barely Alpha testing never mind beta its gonna do the game more damage than releasing nothing

 

I haven't had much time to play until today, but I'm loving it! Just getting started on Assassin's Creed Origins and it looks amazing.

 

I also got the Scorpio edition like the look of it too with the grey fade

Dont think the dash being in 4k matters too much, really sharp anyway

I was playing call of duty on the S last week and say there is a big improvement with X enhancement, alot more detail

I tried 360 game sonic adventure and that looks loads better too, even noticed it on telltales guardians of the galaxy

cant comment on downloads, had all my stuff on an external drive and just plugged it in

I think using hdr plus it will look better as you have seen but in actual hdr it would be even better, a mate of mine had a Samsung with hdr plus and then swapped to a Samsung with Hdr10 and its quite a difference tbh

Really happy with my purchase and glad I upgraded to the X

 

Not sure if it possible, but could a patch be released to support other types of hdr?

 

First thing that i notice when i start to play Forza 7 was the sound.I thought it came from the update.But after several "test",in general the sound quality is better.

And didn't notice any crackling noises when closing a game or app (especially Microsoft Edge).

On the visuals side,no surprise.Just great,on Forza 7 with 4K textures and HDR,it's sharp,detailed,frame rate is stable.I also quickly look at Halo Guardians,Killer Instinct,Elite Dangerous and it's like watching through a window and not a tv screen.

But the sound is really what surprise me.

On the bad side, 1Tb HDD feels cheap,especially for a premium product with big 4K files.And also Team Xbox,after a day with Scorpio,i have learn,discover more than after hearing them for a year and half.They really needs to work their marketing and support
(not only with backward compatibility and enhancement).Even,their tech demo (insects) isn't advertise on Scorpio dashboard.

Scorpio is a good product,nice piece of tech but badly supported (especially after teasing it for a year and half).

I hope for more HDR in game and Dolby vision,too.

 

Wow I feel stupid lol. I didn’t think my tv supported HDR10 but someone on Twitter told me how to enable it on my tv.

Now that it’s on, it is so incredible. AC: Origins looks so good I can’t even play it. I’m just staring at how clean and crisp it looks. I’ve never seen a game like it. I’m on a 55” and I sit no more then 1 meter away. Breathtaking.

There is a lot of heat that pumps out of the console and the HDMI and power cord get the hot air pushed onto them and those two cables get hot. I wonder if that will cause an issue over time.

 

Just need to say that I love this console even more today.

 

Please keep us up to date on the heat. If I remember correctly, the power pack is internal on the X, right? I might get one in the next 6-8 months depending on how much data I can collect from the “beta testers”.

@Burnin TODI... The X seems to run cooler than the S it replaced; the S definitely ran cooler than the day 1 it replaced. It's kept in a enclosed stereo cabinet with a glass door, and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the next morning of constantly being on,
it seemed cool; mixture of streaming movies and playing various games.

 

I'm really impressed with it so far. The performance is excellent and games load noticeably faster whether on the internal drive or an external. The fan is super quiet to the point where you could almost call it silent, although in some One X enhanced titles
it does occasionally spin up really fast for a couple of seconds - the noise is definitely noticeable when that happens. I was expecting a faster cold boot time, but it still takes around a minute to boot if you use energy saving mode and is no faster than
an old Xbox One in that respect.

I have not had a single unwanted controller disconnection. With my regular Xbox One I would get those fairly regularly - the sound in my headset would start to break up, which was a sign it was about to happen, then the controller would disconnect, reconnect,
and my mic would no longer be recognised until I turned the controller off and back on manually. Very annoying, so I'm very pleased that it's not happening with the One X. Not yet at least.

It does kick out a lot of heat from the back. I had a USB stick plugged into one of the rear USB ports for a couple of hours and when I went to unplug it, it was really hot. Not hot enough to be of concern IMO, but certainly hotter than you'd expect when
you first feel it.

Design-wise I think it looks very nice. I don't think they could realistically have made it any smaller. When you pick it up, it feels dense and surprisingly heavy for the size. Personally I would prefer it without the overhang on the left side, but I can't
say I really care about that. It would also have been nice if it had a proper Kinect port, but given that MS have discontinued Kinect itself, I can see why it doesn't. The Kinect adapter is an expensive abomination that requires its own power supply, but at
least there is a solution if you still want to use Kinect.

As for game performance, obviously the place you'll notice the improvements the most are with One X enhanced titles like Assassin's Creed: Origins, but you'll see it in other games too. For instance, Trials Fusion had noticeable screen tearing and frame
rate issues when playing on a regular Xbox One, but on the One X it's butter smooth.

All in all I have no regrets about my purchase whatsoever so far.

 

My one complaint is it seems slower installing from a disc or downloading games.

I downloaded another game without 4K assets (DS3) and it took much longer on the One X than my Day 1 One. Not sure why that is.

I put on Injustice 2 last night and in 4K HDR, I almost started crying because of how good it looked. It was insane. I sit about 4’ max from my screen and didn’t see any pixels or anything. It was pure bliss.

 

I’m liking the new Xbox One X a lot...Wishing Minecraft would get the new 4K update launched. Forza 7 looks better than ever. All of my third party games look much improved as well! I can’t wait to see what developers will do with the added power

 

The console runs eerily silent.

Also I’ve noticed on the One you can record gameplay up to 10 minutes but on the X it’s only 2. I wonder if I change to 1080p if it will record longer? I’ll try it and update.
