What Are You Looking For? aka The LFG Thread!

So who's looking foward to the newly announced
LOOKING FOR GROUP that we'll be getting in a future update?
Here's what we learned about Xbox Clubs, Arena, Looking For Group, and Play Anywhere at E3 2016

Microsoft debuted the Looking For Group (LFG) feature during their E3 press conference. The idea is that players will be able to post and search for ads to accomplish goals in different games.

LFG is handled by Xbox Live's game hubs system. Each game has its own 'hub' on Xbox Live, which allows developers to post updates on the game into a dedicated news feed. Players can follow games they like and receive
updates directly into their own activity feed on Xbox One or the associated apps.

LFG will appear as a new tab under an individual game's hub. In the tab, ads will automatically populate as cards, complete with unique backgrounds based on the game. Ad creators will be able to give cards both suggested
and specific tags. It's up to the ad creator to decide who will be accepted into the game upon application. When you've been accepted, you'll receive an actionable invite on Xbox Live and the associated Xbox apps. When the notification is selected, you'll
automatically get pulled into the game and party relevant to the ad.

Some of the tags players can create include things like "no swearing allowed" and "skilled players only", but also things like "casual players encouraged." A player could create a Killer Instinct training party, for
example, looking to help out new players get to grips with some of the game's more complex mechanics.

Looking For Group seems like a powerful, intuitive and quite frankly necessary feature for Xbox Live. It feels like a natural progression of the network, and crucially, it eliminates the need for developers to build
some of these systems directly into their games. In theory, Microsoft has freed up a lot of development time with this system. Games like Elite Dangerous, which have no in-game LFG system, will benefit immeasurably from it.

That's what the LFG website was created for. Why post a thread. It's a waste of time.

 

What's the purpose of LFG except to browse thru spam

I'd agree.. except a large number of LFG posts are
spam, as I originally posted but somehow was missed in response. Outside of Report to Xbox Live Enforcement (which does little to curb the abuse), there is little in the way to clear or filter out the spam LFG posts. If LFG's are mostly
spam, what is the purpose of having it? I don't think the LFG purpose is to get people to follow you, sell a dlc, sell an account, scam out in-game cash, etc. But that is what is has become. So, again, what is the purpose of LFG other than to browse thru spam?

 

I'm not a big multiplayer fan to be fair. I can see it working to some extent, peeps like to look for others players and I see quite a few threads on here looking for buddies to play with. However, most peeps have a good set of buddies. Also a few guys on
here set up a Facebook group were we organise meets and what not ( well we used too anyway ). It kind of fits in with the way games are heading these days too. A lot of games need you to buddy up to get the good stuff. It's good to see the forum getting some
attention though.

 

I'm not a big multiplayer guy either, but I might use it when the online community dies off in Dying Light.

 

Not I...randoms are good enough for me. Groups, clans, and sometimes friends, can take forever just to decide on a game. My gaming time is limited, so I would rather just pop-in and play.

Been looking for people to play destiny with so I might like said feature.

 

To be honest, I will still use DestinyLFG.net for Destiny as your account is linked so it shows a lot of statistical information that the Xbox LFG would not.

If other games start dropping matchmaking in favour of this, I won't be very happy either.

^No worries, just to attest to how good it is two nights in a row now I have set up a Vault of Glass raid within 10 minutes and will be doing so again this evening. It really is the best place to find players straight away without having to work out time
zones etc.

It's also very rare you will come across rude or annoying players as well, though you do come across quite a bit of 'light elitist' who will want 330+ for the kings fall raid when the recommended is 320. I try and stay away from those groups.

I don't mind playing with others in Destiny when others ask me for help, Strike Missions, and Prison Of Elders.

Matcmaking takes care of this for me, I have no control over it.

I don't go looking for others when I play Destiny.

I won't be using ths LFG thing.

I would make my LFG tag something like "no idiots allowed" but then I wouldn't have many gamers join I think. lol

 

Not even sure if you will be allowed to join your own group.

I will look for a group only for fans of the song "Cake by the Ocean".

I wonder if I'll be successful in finding such group and if I do, I'll have to join.

You cant just pass up this opportunity and find out what they would play?
