Playing doom on the XB1 the other day, 1st thought that came to mind was the 3d/opengl/d3d mod from back in the day. If only they had allowed that to happen with the 360 port, not being able too look up and down feels quite strange in modern times.

hmmm, sat on the fence here - its far too easy to completely fudge up a game even if you think youve fixed it. Ive used skin pack mods on CSS before and they were fun at first, but didnt offer anything major.

Now, lets take Unreal Tournie on the xbox 360 and ps3.. A solid shooter for both, but had doubloe the shelf life on the ps3 due to the fact it allowed custom maps.

I've tried and tried and tried to get into Halo MP, but i think it handles horribly. I can appreciate why it lasts for so long when they release a game though as the New forge is supposed to be incredible.

Overall i dont care for mods as it makes devs lazier, but i do care for custom maps to extend multiplayer games lifespan

I don't see them allowing game fixing mods, how would you list it in the add mods list, "Game is Broke Fix 1"?

I'd just call them what they've been called all along... Title Update ##. They can always give a link to the patch list.

I know I wasn't dreaming... I... swear I wasn't, but I saw a video where they talked a little about mods for the Xbox One. A main point that got my attention was the fact that
it may be possible for some mods to break the game. Alluding to the fact that modding isn't easy, even if you know what you're doing. I also remember them showing a mod where there was an entire line of cars (maybe one of the salvage yards) all sitting side
by side... all with bright, glistening new paint. Not really one I'd use, it doesn't fit the back drop.

Wish I could remember where I found it so I could link it.

That's the biggest reason I see a very limited mod library on the console. All the mods will need to be made in an editor provided by the developer that will limit what you can do in order to not break the game or all mods will require reworking/testing
by the developers which will limit how many we'll see.

Those of us who use mods on the PC have our game saves backed up to a folder not associated with the game directory and in many cases will have multiple installations of a game in order to use specific mods in each installation. When you start adding more
than one mod to a game they don't always play nice with each other which can cause game breaking conflicts.

There are precautions that need to be taken but the results are well worth the effort.

  10. ^Hopefully they'll get it worked out so that there will be a decent variety of mods without feeling overly limited. Even at that, I'm sure there will be potential to break the game. At least that's the impression I got. Using multiple mods would definitely
increase the risk of conflicts. Whatever they come up with... I'll only be trying 1 at a time until I learn which ones will play nice with each other.

I wasn't interested in mods, until I was disappointed with xcom and found out about the long war mod. Things that bring more value for money is a good thing, milking it would be a bad thing.

For those of you have never modded a game before and aren't sure what's available this will wet your appetite
    www.nexusmods.com/.../top

Those are the mods currently available for the PC's Fallout 4 (currently over 6,000 and I've linked the top downloaded ones).

How many of those we'll see on the consoles......we wait and see.

Thanks for the link, after a quick look nothing interests me, i would just play it as is (maybe a few times), then not play it again.

I believe Todd Howard said something similar in an interview, he said he wanted people to have the ability to break Fallout 4 if they wanted, but joked about MS probably not allowing that. (at least i think it was Todd Howard)

The "Vault Booty" mod has over 160,000 downloads, wow some people need to get out more... What are you expecting from Mods? ;)
