  1. What are you expecting from Mods?

I'm not so sure on the nudie mods... If the game is rated "M" and the content doesn't fall outside that rating... it's an offline game. Your GT isn't considered "offline content". Will be interesting to see if and how they do handle such submissions.

@Randver, I have... more than enough... problems and reasons for pessimism in my life. Gaming is my have fun, forget about the bad and enjoy my experience avenue. I'm aware that the mods we will likely see will be filtered by Bethesda and nobody should expect
mods that will exceed the console's limitations. If they do... well... their problem.

Whatever their plan is or isn't, I don't expect it to be pulled of without any issues since it's a new process. I expect it will need to evolve and I'm patient enough to let it do just that.

I already have a great game that I enjoy and for no more $ than other games. If they deliver even a few mods that are fun, or help streamline game play, that's more than I had before. Why would I even want to view it through the scope of what PCs can accomplish?
If I wanted access to mods of that capacity I'd have a PC. Just me, but I refuse to put on the spectacles of pessimism and view it through 'what it should be' lenses. Those who do, IMO, are setting themselves up to be disappointed.

    :)

E3 is in june and mass effect 3 comes out in march. I really don't think there will be anything that has to do with mass effect 3 since it has already came out by the time e3 has started

My point was that's it's Bethesda that's creating that problem. They are the ones making comparisons to PC modding and the Steam Workshop so they are planting the seed for people's expectations. They are telling us what it will be but not how they plan
on doing it. I don't see the upside in them raising expectations.

There currently isn't a Steam Workshop for Fallout 4 because they are waiting for the "developers kit" to get released yet you can head over to Nexus and download 1000's of mods for the game. They are making it more difficult for PC gamers to access mods
and making vague promises to the console crowd....personally I think that's a recipe for disaster

  5. ^It's Bethesda's problem to deal with then. Common sense tells me that "comparing" means taking note of both similarities and differences and understanding that one is not the exact same as the other.

I'm sure they want us to know what it will be. How they plan on doing it is their problem and not required knowledge, at least not yet. I personally don't care. It's a new endeavor, it will take time to get it up and going smoothly. Those who think that will
happen without issues, or that it should meet their expectations exactly, are creating their own recipe for disaster IMO.

"What do u expect from mods"?

The answer is in the question. That they will modify the game.

Anyone expecting mods on the xbox to "fix" performance issues hasn't really thought very hard about the question.

Mods on the xbox will only ever be used to add game variation in games where MS and the Publisher have permitted them to do so.

Expecting anything different is frankly a silly suggestion as far as XBox ONE is concerned.

I don't see why not. Unofficial patches for game's often fix a lot of issue's the devs don't bother with. Allowing such mods would do Bethesda a favour because it saves them a lot of time and resources.

I don't see them allowing game fixing mods, how would you list it in the add mods list, "Game is Broke Fix 1"? I don't think developers will admit it TBH, however I do hope they use them to patch the game and pass on some cash to modder, but thats not going
    to happen either.

I don't know tbh. If I'd developed a game and an issue came to light after release, and someone fixed the issue for me.....I'd be pretty grateful. Devs don't have to admit to issue's with their game's because everyone who's playing will know about it.

I think it doesn't really matter what the mod is, if devs didn't want people messing with their games they just wouldn't allow it, and they certainly wouldn't promote it and bring it to consoles.

On the PC the majority of mods are patches that improve performance, visuals, fix bugs and glitches etc with the rest adding content. The people that have made reference to "God Mode" and things like unlimited ammo, etc aren't looked at as mods
in the PC world but rather "cheats" that even existed on the older consoles by entering a sequence of button presses or by accessing the developers console.

If they were to open the console to modders you would see games getting visual upgrades and better performance, My modded version of Morrowind with the enhanced textures (made it look like vanilla Skyrim) ran better and used less resources than the vanilla
version because the modders had done a much better job of optimizing it. Developers have a limited time and budget to release and patch a game. Modders don't have those limitations so with time anything can be made better.

What are you expecting from Mods?

Surely a patch is something added to a game by the developers to fix issues, and a mod is code built by 3rd parties to do what ever they want, so your statement mods are patches is confusing.

While I agree a mod and a patch are roughly the same thing coming from different sources, my point was at least from my point of view games developers don't officially use mods to fix things and not use mods to influence future versions of the game, I am
    sure there is an exception.

The term "patch" is used by both developers and modders for their files. Many old PC games will have an "official" patch (released by developers) and a "community" patch that was released after the developers final patch to fix any bugs and glitches that
    weren't fixed by the developers.

On the PC there is an expectation by developers that the modding community will fix, improve and add content to their games. It's why the Steam Workshop program exist.

I think modding coming to the console like it exist on the PC is a good thing and will make for better games with a longer lifespan. The downside is for that to happen the console needs to be open and with that comes the dark side of gaming with hackers
running amok unless MS enables some type of anti-cheat system.

Modders do patch as well. A modder has fixed the Ashley Marksman glitch in Mass Effect 3, which Bioware never bothered to do.

So it is entirely possible that you could see fan made patches/bug fixes.
