What are the Xbox One essentials?

Me and my girlfriend are getting our Xbox Ones next month and we were wondering, what little 'extras' would be good to have? A mic adaptor thingy? Since I've heard the One doesn't come with a headset. Play and charge, external HD, etc? What do you guys personally
recommend to have with an X1? We just want to see what everyone here has to say. Thanks guys.

Just gonna say if you have a Mobile phone with internet you can connect through that as i have heard if its true or not dunno ,but massive help with holidays but then why take one on holiday just kills the point of going

 

Hey you, I'll admit that I have no extras, just what 'came in the box' so I wouldn't recommend anything! haha =p

Though you can bet that sweet *** of yours that I would recommend a chat pad if one was available.

 

Funny, my Xbox One came with a headset.

 

Xbox One does come with a mic. It doesn't support old headsets without the adaptor.

I recommend an External HD (I have a 4TB Seagate) if you are going to do a lot of digital downloads, otherwise its not a real necessity yet. However, you should factor in the Games With Gold program on top of any games you plan to purchase.

A play and charge kit for sure as the Xbox One controller kills batteries rather quickly IMO. I'm still a little upset my old rechargeable batteries don't work with these controllers

On the upside, the USB cable you get is really long and can be used to charge more than your controller.

A second controller but I tend to have a lot of people I game with in person.

A Smartglass compatibility device if you don't have one already. I recommend a tablet only because the screen is bigger.

If I put it in order of significance it would be

1. Play and charge kit

2. Another Controller (preferably the controller + play and charge kit bundle)

3. External HD

4. Smartglass device

My batteries last for a few weeks and I play a few hours almost every night. I would get a bigger hard drive as 500gb can fill up quickly.

 

Electricity and internet would be good....maybe a TV set too.

 

I don't have enough games to warrant a HD, i purchases turtle beach XP400's so I got an adapter, and I have 8 rechargeable batteries and a charger, thats all I have.

But don't forget lots of crisps, drinks and snacks.

 

KINECT, I also use energizer rechargeable AA batteries and have a black energizer express charger which can charge 2 AA/AAA batteries from 0-100% in 15 minutes or 4 AA/AAA batteries from 0-100% in 30 minutes. Don't buy regular batteries you go through those
way too fast and its not environmentally friendly. Rechargeable batteries are.

I strongly suggest you invest with console with Kinect. Kinect can do amazing things and it's real fun. QR codes, Skype (yes important video chat), voice commands, and games including Kinect Sports Rivals Zoo Tycoon and others. You can use it to chat without
having to fork out money for a chat adaptor. All Xbox 1's regardless if Day 1, normal, or special editions, should come with a mic too. My Day 1 edition did I've never used the mic.

May I suggest turtle beach headsets too. I have the turtle beach x42 which has game sound and can chat. I use it on my 360 and it's useable on 1, but you need a chat adaptor for Xbox 1. I also suggest you get the smart glass app for your smartphone too.
I have both the smart glass x360 and x1 on my phone. I don't have to have the app open on my phone and even when it's on standby, my Samsung phone whistles to me every time I get an invite or message from 360 or 1.

Need to get an external HDD if you like playing tonnes of games as the console only comes with 500GB 5400RPM HDD built into the console. It's non removable unlike with 360 (unless you want to void the warranty). Seagate is a mainstream brand especially in
NZ.

And lastly, a good Full HDTV LED (1080p). Best brands are Samsung and Sony.

 

While I wouldn't put Kinect as an Accessory (which I suppose technically it is) I would agree with smiles, its a must buy IMO.

 

Hey Defy, it comes with a headset and I think it's a good one.

I wouldn't go the play and charge kit, I roll with a 4 pack of Energizer batteries with charging station, only costs $25 Australian so would be cheaper if your in the states. I hate the cords and found that the 360 batteries seem to have a short life span.
Use one set of batteries and switch em over while the other 2 charge.

Do yourself a solid and get he Kinect version, I hardly use it, but its an awesome addition and if your into voice commands you will love it.

Essential games? hmmmm I havent been blown away with any of the games just yet, so whatever floats your boat.

 

I bought the Play & Charge kit. If you've got the extra cheddar, it is a great convenience. I don't think it is "essential", but it is helpful/nice. Outside of that, the only other thing I use that didn't come with my One is Smartglass.

Extra sets of AA batteries and a charger to keep them ready.

External HDD isn't necessary until you start to fill up the internal HDD. I prefer an external SSD, but if that's too pricey a decent 1TB or 2TB USB powered external HDD would be fine.

A tablet to run SmartGlass can be useful.

A spare controller in case one controller starts to drift.
