WHAT AMATEURS ARE CODING XBOX.COM?

REALLY! DO YOU (MS) HAVE AMATEUR ASP.NET DEVELOPERS CODING THIS SITE? WHY AM I SHOUTING? BECAUSE I CANNOT LOG OUT OF THIS WEBSITE USING FIREFOX OR CHROME! DO YOU EVEN BOTHER TESTING IN NON-IE USER AGENTS?

WHEN I GOTO MY TOP-RIGHT AVATAR/GT MENU DROP-DOWN AND SELECT "LOG OUT", NOTHING HAPPENS! THE SESSION ID IS NOT DESTROYED AND CLIENT COOKIES REMAIN UNALTERED. I CAN CLOSE CHROME OF FIREFOX, COME BACK LATER AND I'LL STILL BE LOGGED IN. IT'S BEEN LIKE THIS
FOR MONTHS - INEXCUSABLE!!!!

I'M ALSO SCREAMING BECAUSE I'M A PROFESSIONAL ASP.NET DEVELOPER AND THIS IS BEYOND TERRIBLE, SECURITY-WISE. IF I WAS IN CHARGE OF A TEAM ALLOWING THIS, I'D GIVE THEM 48 HOURS TO FIX IT BEFORE FIRING THEM ALL. IF YOU WANT A SCREENCAST OF THIS, LET ME KNOW

During the opening weeks MOST of the amateurs will get caught and banned, the problem is the good ones who know what they are doing and know how to avoid getting the programs traced to their accounts that cause it. Everyone of them will inspire/encourage
5-7 amateurs to hack/mod/glitch.

In the long run, MS and the devs need to find more effective ways of tackling the root of these issues, focusing more on preemptive measure instead of clean up duty.

This site has been awful for several years now and the latest update just added more problems.

Going to your email account linked to your live ID and signing out there, will normally sign you out here too.

I have never tried logging out myself, my problem is trying to stay logged in.

 

Strange, I use Firefox and have no trouble at all logging out.

i have no idea what processes your codebehind is doing, but let me project an educated startingpoint, based on what I'm seeing client-side - might even prove to be a temporary quickfix, until you resolve this deeper, i don't know.

look at your "RPS" auth cookies. i note that in IE11, they are being deleted on PostBack during SignOut execution. this is correctly killing the session in IE.

Chrome & FF however, are not wiping these values during SignOut. for whatever reason, they're preserved during the SignOut postback. if i manually delete the RPS collection, i get an effective session kill on the next PostBack (in FF) or the second PostBack
(in Chrome). then I'm truly logged out. NOTE: manually deleting this collection ONLY works, when i delete them AFTER i have clicked the SignOut button. you have to click SignOut first, then manually delete the collection, otherwise they're still preserved
across PostBacks.

You are incorrect,. This section may be a haven for people waiting to load a page but, You sir are simply incorrect saying Microsoft does not use this site.

Why would an employee give details? Support members have icons and "other" account access.... This is however NOT support so why would an employee "blow" their cover?

Saying the forums as a whole are not viewed by Microsoft is just plain wrong. Please correct my misinformation....

The belief that Microsoft doesn't use the forum comes from their rather poor state.

Some think it is better to believe that Microsoft don't use their own forum rather than accept they think it is in an acceptable state.

Even if the forum ran perfectly with no errors we'd still have a poor nested format for navigation, with simple functions like being able to quote any post missing.

It seems with every step forward with the forum, such as fixing paragraphing in quick reply, Microsoft take two steps back.

Personally I'm of a paranoid nature and believe the forum is as it is because Microsoft want us all to interact via Facebook and Twitter, where to be fair they do a pretty good job of interacting with their community. It's a shame they don't show the same
desire for interaction on their own official forum for the Xbox brand that they do elsewhere.
