    What all data saves to local cache?


    I've had a Series S for little over a month now and I just started receiving the notification local cache almost full. I know how to clear cache, and I know connecting to the internet will dump pre existing cache online. I want to note that I primarily play offline, because it is a personal preference and my access is very limited due to location.

    My question though, is besides achievement data, what else is cached during offline play that causes the memory to get full? I'm assuming (but hoping this is not the case) that all save data from games is cached while offline as well so the system can upload it to cloud storage once online, because I do not see how achievements alone can cause it to fill so quickly.

    Also, I only go online to purchase or install games, and updates. I have no pending updates currently as everything is up to date, and I only have 17 games, Terria being the most recent played, and also being the game that I received the cache notification from

    (on two occasions) while playing.

    Hello AustinLaughhlin,

    Yes, there is a difference between Cache (temporary storage) and system storage. When it comes to the Cache on your Xbox series console, here are the things that fill up that temporary storage

    1. Game items
    2. Game updates
    3. system update installation packages
    4. Gamer pictures of your friends
    5. Games that are open via Quick resume or apps that were not close completely by selecting quit
    6. If you have used the Blu-ray disc on your Xbox for physical games or movies
    I hope that this answers your question. Now keep in mind that sometimes if you are getting that error about your Cache being full, it can be a bug related to the game and how it's accessing that temporary storage. The Cache can become corrupted, which in that case you can perform a reset of the console and keep your apps and games but fixes any issues that the console might be having. Or you can always move your games and apps to an external Hard drive and perform a complete factory setting. To confirm, you have performed a power cycle of your console to clear Cache, and you have also gone into the menu and cleared the persistent storage?

    I am aware of how storage works on an X Box console, but this was completely unrelated to my question because local cache and system storage are two completely different things entirely and unrelated, so unfortunately, this didn't answer my question at all.
