    Western Digital My Book 3Tb Quit Working On Xbox One


    Need Help

    I've had my WD My Book for roughly 6 months for my XB One to store all my games. Day one, plugged in and it formatted and started downloading all my games there. Never had a problem. Today.....wont work. No detection. My xbox won't read it over night.

    Tried everything:

    resets

    Hard reset

    moving usb locations

    cycling external hard drive

    tried different usb 3.0 cable

    called xbox tech support

    Can anyone help? i don't want to lose all my game data. how can it go from last night working to not being able to detect now?

    has microsoft done an update that would affect externals or would someone recommend updating the firmware for the WD my book?

    I need help. there's no damage or sounds coming from the WD. just as quiet as its always been.

    How easy is it to change a hard drive?(Xbox One)

    I have a 3TB Western Digital My Book got it for around $80 well worth it if you dont want to spring for a 7200rpm.

    Make sure whatever you get is USB 3.0 and 256GB+ in size, USB 2.0 does not work with Xbox One neither does anything lower than 256GB.

    Need Advice On External Drive

    I just purchased an XBOX ONE and I need some advice as to what external hard drive I should buy(Or if a 3tb drive is enough) I was checking out the
    STBV3000100 seagate external drive or maybe the western digital My Book 3TB drive..both are around the same price just not sure what I should get. I believe both are 5400 RPM so I wont notice much difference in speed..was also wondering when I
    turn on the XBOX ONE when I do get this new hard drive I assume it always needs to be plugged in when I turn on the XBOX ONE since the majority of the games will be on it

    I haven't yet. I worked with Xbox support for 2 hrs and didn't get a fix.

    we narrowed it down to either a cable issue, which I got another one and didn't work, or that it had failed. But this morning I brought the WD to work, plugged into a PC, and it was discovered easily.

    So with that said, is it a xbox issue not reading it since the xbox is not reading it, and the PC will, and both are Windows?

    External drives for the XBox One X

    Western Digital Elements 3TB has worked great for me so far. I'd highly recommend one that is powered via power supply and not just USB :)

    Talk about your overkill. Especially for the price. I agree with my learned colleagues. A 3tb seagate or western digital would sufice. And you would save yourself around $650!
