HELP! I am extremely frustrated with the Xbox One parental controls. We have one adult and two child accounts set up. Both child accounts have same settings, but one child (the one who actually cares) cannot play multiplayer games online. We always see the
same message:





To do this, change a setting

You cannot play multiplayer games online because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com.


This is not at all specific and, therefore is completely unhelpful. Microsoft can do better!

I've already read the forums, to no avail.

Yes, we have a Gold/Live subscription.

Yes, I've checked the parental controls, on the Xbox console and on Microsoft family portal online and on Xbox.com. I can't see what might be the problem. We have clearly selected "allow" to join multiplayer games. If there are other specific privileges
that must be granted to make online play possible, I suggest that Microsoft outline those succinctly in a FAQ. I see from the forums that we're not the only user to experience this frustration.

And yes, we've removed his profile from the console and reloaded it. We got an error code during the reload (0x80a40008). What does that mean? His profile shows up as if nothing went wrong (although he still can't play online).

We're having a terrible user experience with Microsoft's parental controls. I'm very disappointed. Please help before my husband takes this Xbox down to the sidewalk and bashes it with a hammer

Cannot change the settings of a child account in my family.

Me and my sister are playing Minecraft, and she cannot play multiplayer and said that we had to change the settings, so I added her at the "Microsoft family" as a child account and mine as an adult account, but I still cannot see her account in the privacy
and online settings.

 

Problems with changing child's privacy and online safety

Hey i've just made an account on xbox/microsoft today for my child. The problem is that she can't play the game that we made the account for now, because "You cannot play online multiplayer through xbox live because of how your account is set up. This can
be changed in your pivacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com". So i go tothe xbox website and login to her account, there it says that because its a child account i need to change her settings from an adult account. It didn't ask me to connect and adult
account when i made hers, but i manage to find the family tab on my own microsoft account and add her as a child. My problem is that when i go to the privacy and online safety to change the settings it only lists me as an account i can change the settings
for, even though it says that i should be able to see all the the accounts that are linked as my children.
