So most of the new Xboxes go to Ebay and Amazon at 100% markups by the scum of the earth and their bots, as is the norm these days. Managed to get to the end of checkout on both Walmart and then MS websites. Wish I had gone MS first, maybe I'd have had better
luck, who knows.

Walmart stock was gone in literally the few seconds it took for me to click through as fast as I could.

After being unsuccessful refreshing other vendors I finally decided to try MS. They didn't even bother telling me they were out, they just keep suggesting I 'wait a while' then try again. Wait a while, right.

Is fighting the scalpers really that hard? How about not selling 20 units to one person? How about making warranties non-transferrable to deter scumbags from supporting scalpers?

Of course I guess supporting scalping makes sense for MS. This way the product only gets to the people who can afford to buy at 100% markup. They will probably buy more games and peripherals as well, seeing as they have more money. So the end result? Only
the rich get the product. Middle finger to the rest of us that don't have a grand to drop on a console.

Here, let me paraphrase that... it is also the customers that don't want to chip in on the gaming industry but still enjoy the benefits. They just want someone else to 'chip in' their portion for them.

You know, they are the one 'supposed friend' at the party who never seems to want to chip in on the next round of drinks. They either tell you they'll catch up later, but never do, or are always conveniently in the rest room when the hat is passed around.
These are the ones we call leeches. We don't really want them around but are too polite to say so. We're just looking for a convenient time to scrape them off our shoe. Similar to what we do when we step in dog droppings.

But let's all just excuse their behavior and keep 'pitching in' for them. Because that's the polite thing to do.

this happens everytime a bit of new tech comes out, i remember back when the 360 launched, they were going for sale on ebay at £10000 and people were paying that. my pre order back then took 2 months to arrive.

All true. But it doesn't excuse it. And it doesn't mean there aren't actions companies could take to combat it. They just choose not to.

And as I alluded to in my post, the people that purchase from scalpers are no better. If there weren't a market, it wouldn't be an issue. Too many people are selfish and self-serving.

I had a scalper tell me I just don't understand how capitalism works. LOL And then stated that if it wasn't for them, nobody would be able to get one. Really, and exactly how does that work?

Scalpers create nothing. They offer no service. They bring nothing but greed to the table. But what they don't get is that what goes around does indeed come around. The real people in their lives will come to see the kind of people scalpers are (you can't
really hide your true nature forever) and little by little drift away, leaving the scalpers sitting alone on piles of their money. Enjoy that.
