Well this is a bummer

I guess since the latest update it is no longer an option to use Microsoft money on Groove or any other subscription site. It has switched to a CC or paypal option only. I have been paying for my Groove subscription for the past year and a half with Microsoft
money with no issue and now that is no longer an option. Microsoft money can now only be used to buy games and movies.

Why would they remove this option. I find it rather convenient to use Microsoft cash as I can not be trusted with a CC on my console....you know what I mean you have a few friends over, a few beverages and then everything looks really cool to buy so you
do it. Then the next time you turn on your xbox you realize things got a little crazy and then uh-oh and then your wife sees the charges and you are grounded for a week!!! ;-)

Well guess I better start doing the dishes and house work more often to soften the blow.

Why remove the option?

Like Google, Apple etc. MS wants to collect as much of your personal data/habits/etc as they possibly can. (Knowledge is Power... )

 

You can enable a passkey for purchases if you are worried about people making purchases on your behalf.

you cant even buy backwards xbox games or DLC with money you put into your xbox account. A account that was invented with the sole purpose of to do that very thing. Anything to get you to float your credit card number and passkey on the cloud. To many stories
of unwanted, nonrefundable charges even with passkey and auto renew turned off. If anyone can think of another reason why xbox would block us from using thier own prepayed cards, cards invented to do this very thing, to buy things from the xbox store other
than to force use to enter our credit card numbers and passkey, feel free to tell it.

 

They want more money not positive they're the ones that give out those rewards but it's definitely not money out of your pocket

Well instead of buying microsoft money rely on paypal cards then is just like xbox money except better because you can use it on more than just your xbox.

 

lol, why would I not want to add a credit card, then turn around and add a paypal account? Info to access a account i have with my money in it is still being given to xbox. Its just called a paypal account instead of credit card account.

 

but with paypal your money is protected and so is your bank account/credit card as microsoft don't have access to either of them.

 

I use my credit card because I'm not scared. Lol. I don't wear a tinfoil hat. I couldn't care less if they want to see my spending habits. They can have all the info they want about me. I don't care. It doesn't affect me or the way I live my life. I'm not
paranoid.

What you, as a customer are prevy to see and what corporate giants are prevy to see are likely different. With these giants selling/trading your data back and forth, it's best to either use cash cards, or simply don't buy at all.

Oh yah OP, since you refuse to use CC/Paypal/etc, then you must be wearing a tin foil hat.

I've used a credit card online for a million purchases through Xbox Sony Nintendo etc etc etc. I never once stopped and said "hmm my life is awful and severely affected by companies using my data".

If you are afraid or too nervous to use a credit card on your console you need to get a grip.
