I recently got a big promotion at work which came with a hefty salary increase and to reward myself, I ordered one of the Thrustmaster Ferrari TX 458 Italia wheels for Forza 5. Still need to order the stand but one pricey component at a time.

Congrats!!! I've been using the Thrustmaster TX since November and it's awesome!! It will definitely take your experience with this game to the next level. If you haven't used a wheel before be prepared to have worse results when you start using the wheel.
There is going to be a learning curve as you get used to the wheel and you'll probably run worse times for awhile.

I would definitely recommend a good stand for the wheel. If you're just looking for a stand - the Fanatec CSL Wheel Stand is really good. If you're really looking to go all-out - check into getting a Playeat, Obutto chair, or any of the other good cockpit
manufacturers.

I am just going after a stand that will fold down and store easy. My wife puts up with a lot when it comes to my gaming but she is not going to let me get away with the whole playseat thing in the middle of the living room. Probably will order it next
month and mount it to a TV tray or the small table we take tailgating until then.

You would think that MS would have sent you a courtesy notice to the regulars of your game, prior to just not supporting it.

Microsoft shutdown online support for original Xbox games last year (not yesterday). The fact that NHL 2005 (single player) was playable yesterday, but not today, would be due to EA, not Microsoft shutting down the servers for
the game. Again something that happened a while back.
