Weird noises coming from my Xbox One console

Hello,

I just bought a new Xbox One and the first thing I noticed when booting up was a weird noise coming from the console. It's very audible when you are close to the front and rear vents of the console. The noise itself... I don't know how to describe it well...
it's like a cracking sound, similar to a bad old HDD but not too loud, but audible anyways.

The fans are very loud also, and never stop.

I just want to know if this is a known issue and if my console is elegible for a replacement.

[/quote]If your Xbox 360 has been owned for less than a year, then it's still under warranty. If you think the Xbox is affecting the discs or performance, then go ahead and
contact support.

 

Hi SuperSonic,

I think better if you could post the youtube video link of ur console and sound (Many others have done the same and got the right advice).

There has been instances of this and people have got the replacement depending on the issue.

sounds defective to me FYI u bought it in a retailer like best buy/walmart etc. hopefully if so with a warranty return it as defective with receipt they will exchange it no extra cost!!! now never send it to microsoft for repairs they will put a $500 safetydeposit
on your credit card and cheat you out of the $500 by delaying the shipping so you have to give them the $500 that u wont see again !!! better of doing simple store exchange !!!

 

SuperSonic if the noise is an issue then returning it to where you purchased it from for an immediate replacement would be the best coarse of action, for the smallest turn around time possible. Most stores don't even ask whats wrong other then you saying
it's not working. If the store is unable to help you due to 14day/30day only return/exchange policy then contact Microsoft for a replacement. Do not listen to the above poster trying to troll. Yes you will get a hold on a major CC, but they will not keep
it or even push the charge through unless they notice you don't return the other system. They can tell this VIA tracking number during shipping.

 

That sounds like normal hard drive seek noise to me. You hear it because the fan is so quiet, so there's nothing to drown the noise out, plus the hard drive is located at the back of the console on the right, behind the fan, so it's directly underneath the
main vent.

 

But the noise is there at all times, sometimes is quieter and then it's a bit louder but it's always making that chirping noise. A friend of mine got his Xbox One a few months ago and it's completely silent.

 

Yes I agree with Super Sonic.. This sound is a bit out of ordinary

 

Yep, it's not supposed to do that. I would return it asap and get a replacement.
