Weird Noise

Ok so my Xbox One is making a weird noise. When there is no disc in the drive the console is making a noise like the disk drive is trying to read a disk. The noise slightly goes away when switching to different apps or settings. The noise completely
goes away when I put a game disk in the drive and play. Noise comes back after I take the disk out of the drive.

Has anyone else heard this noise at all? It did not make this noise when I setup my Xbox One for the first time.

If it works then that's great, but I wouldn't keep tapping it.

when i tap my xbox on top i hear a noise like something is moving around. is that the tilt sensor or no??

 

Try doing a hard console reset by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 sec. After 30 sec plug it back in and power back on. Hopefully the problem will be resolved. If not then you can
try taking it back and getting it swapped out.

 

Try to search for coil whining on Youtube. Is it that sound?

Just to recap, I only hear that noise on the dashboard, not when playing a retail game. The first Xbox One I had had the same problem so I asked for a replacement, got this one and it does the exakt same thing. I expect it not to be normal, right? Because
I'm just giving it back then, I don't really enjoy sending consoles back and forth just to try my luck a every four or five days.

 

Was your replacement done through microsoft?

 

No, amazon. They sent me a completely new console.

 

So this still isn't fixed.. so your best bet would be to buy a pre-owned console?

 

Oh, seems that there are more and more people with this "noise-problem".

My Xbox One is still doing this, too. After 18 hours on and playing, the noise was a little lesser than before, but the next morning when i turn on the Xbox to play again, it was still there like the days before.

Yesterday my Xbox One had its first crash - I was playing Diablo 3 UEE and suddenly i only see the dashboard and the game was closed. :-/

I'll be watching it on and if it is not better, Amazon can send me again a new Xbox One...

 

Well the official response by support is to send consoles to microsoft for the issue to be fixed, however this still doesn't answer why so many brand new consoles are having this problem. Can support tell us what is causing it in the first place and why
are consoles still behind sold with this problem nearly 9 months after launch?

 

Well, I guess I'll give it another try through Microsoft. Not looking forward to picking it up at the post office _again_ and sending another one back _again_ but I guess that's just modern consoles for you.
