Weapons with Monk Class

So, I'm really surprised with how much I like Diablo. Had loads of fun last night playing my first character a Monk. However, I noticed that my Monk doesn't seem to use any weapons I have equipped. I first had some common daggers, then I got some nice
magical daggers. But I couldn't figure out how to do an equipment attack with the daggers. In Skeleton King dungeon, I found a really nice staff that I equipped. But it doesn't seem that the monk is using it. I did a quick search today and found that on
the PC version they didn't do the animations for weapons with the class. So, does using the A button actually use the weapon or is it just what ever primary skill you have assigned?

I chose a monk because it's the only class I havent played with on PC but it looks like everyone is a monk.

I got a lvl 60 Monk on PC and it was my favorite so I'm a monk on consoles too. Feels much better to play a melee class with a controller though.

 

my monk has animation with his weapons. It should work when pressing A and rt.

 

I think it boils down to what the attack actually is. I noticed a similar thing when playing as the witch doctor. Why do I bother equipping a knife when all my character does is shoot darts and throw bottles at people?

 

It is worth noting that equipping different types of weapons, regardless or whether or not you see them, will effect the damage you inflict and the speed at which you attack.

 

For some reason, it started working the next time I played. I guess it needed to save and close out to get the new animation.

 

He may not be attacking with the weapon but he does the damage that weapon gives him. Fist weapons are the best imo because his attack speed is insane (especially with nephlem glory)

 

I am getting legendary drops of fists but none with slots. I really wish enchant worked without needing a legendary salvage. So far I have seen a hammer + shield work best for monk if I want to do T2 without dying a lot. Those purple arcane orbs still get
me, I hate them!

Dual weilding is good with monk, but if you go one weapon (best one), it doubles the damage of that weapon if you wield shield instead.

Combining shield + dodge from passive, makes monk durable.
