we were unable to get your recent messages

Are you trying to access your messages on the Xbox website, or in the Xbox App, or on the console, when you get that error?

If you are getting that in your browser when using the Xbox website, I found that using a different browser worked.

While Firefox and Edge couldn't show my messages, Google Chrome did the trick.

I'm having the same issue, on all win 10 devices... No error codes, just a message saying '! We are unable to get your recent messages. Please try again later.'

I have the same issue with all games and apps, yesterday all worked normal, but today it started...Please help!

I found a work around for the syncing data issue. If you have a mobile hotspot connect it to your Xbox. Then let the game sync. Once it finishes syncing go to networking options and connect your router, but don't disconnect your mobile hotspot until your
console has connected to your router. Once you are connected to your router disconnect your mobile hotspot. Then play a game and let the game save. Once the game saves you can exit out the game and start another game and you should not have any more syncing
data issues.
