We see your external storage, but the connection is too weak to use. (0x8082000d)

I have a 2tb Seagate external hard drive. It has worked perfectly until the last few months. The blue power light/connection light started to do one of two things either doesn't come on at all or it just blinks for 5 seconds and then goes off. I constantly
have to unplug it and plug it back in and then restart my xbox. That used to fix it. But now I'm lucky if I can get the lights to blink for the 5 seconds and then afterward I get the 'We see your external storage, but the connection is too weak to use. (0x8082000d)'
message. This is happening on two different xbox ones. The hard drive works just fine when I plug it into my pc. and yes my hard drive plugs into the wall as well into the xbox with a usb port. Ive also restarted, power cycled, name it and ive done it, even
messed with the setting in system where you de select the option to power off external memory when the console shuts off. Some Help would be great.

    Thanks

    Ben

    :)

Try Another USB port or cable

Same problem here. My Seagate external hard drive blinks for about 5 seconds and then just stops then I get the 'we see your external storage, but the connection is too weak to use' error. It does this on two different xbox ones. Ive swapped out ports, unplugged
everything, restarted the console. The hard drive works just fine and the blue light stays on when I plug it into my pc. Any solutions here?? and yes my external hard drive plugs into the wall and has a cord that plugs into the usb port.

Try Another USB port or cable

So after downloading the latest Build I have been getting an error message more and more frequently regarding the USB ports on my Project Scorpio Editions of my Xbox One X's. I said that as in multiple X's so we know it's not a one-off of a particular console
only. I'm getting it on multiple consoles with different HDD's. One is a Western Digital and the other is a Seagate. Sometimes the problem happens immediately when I boot up the Xbox's and sometimes it takes a while before it happens. I get an Error Message
    that reads:

Try another USB port or cable

We see your external storage, but the connection is too weak to use. (0x8082000d)

I have tried unplugging the drives and plugging them back in after several minutes. I've tried changing the USB ports they are plugged into. I've also Hard Reset the Xbox with the drive in and out (then plugged in after the complete boot is done). Thus
far nothing has actually done anything to fix this problem with any consistency. Sometimes just unplugging it and plugging it back in works. Other times it just resolves itself when it feels like it. Please advise.

I have the same problem at the moment. The problem came up recently. Mine is a WD 4TB. But I noticed you said it plugs into the wall outlet. So does mine. I've had a few power flashes lately, even though its plugged into a surge protector, I think it might
have damaged mine. It has the same error code. My brother however has a hardrive that is powered and connected via USB 3.0 and it doesn't seem to have the problem that mine does. I'm still not sure on how to fix it besides rebooting it but that doesn't seem
to work for me anymore either. Your USB 3.0 cord might be damaged somewhere in the wiring for the connection to be weak. Or maybe try a different usb port. The port on the hardrive, or even your xbox, itself maybe damaged too. But for your computer to recognize
it but not the xbox has me wondering if it might be a problem in the os and maybe an update could fix it but you would just have to wait one the next update if that's the case. Maybe plug it into the xbox at the homescreen and refresh it by holding RT, LT,
and Y. But I'm in the same boat as you so if anyone else knows how to fix it that would be great.

  5. OP I have that same exact drive with the same issues of the xbox one saying that the connection is too weak to use, I tried different micro-usb cables and it still hasn't yielded results. I have even sat it through the SeaTools diagnostic tools (free software
from Seagate that can usually repair drives that have glitches) to no results, admittedly I have not tried using using the micro b 3.0 cable (the cable that the port is actually made for) so maybe that will fix the problem. Once I give it a shot I will post
    an update.

    Thanks

Hi there, same problem here. Tried all suggested troubleshoots, updates, swithcing consoles, etc and still nothing. It’s
very frustrating to have to delete 3 games just to download one new one. Hoping there will be a fix soon as this has only been happening since around the first or second update of 2018.

Flash drives can be slower than external drives and the claimed speeds are usually not what you actually get.

It may just be on the cusp which is why the xbox sometimes works with it, perhaps it would be an idea to get a different drive if possible to save the headaches.
Thank you for your time and answer to my question. Have a great day.

ive had that twice in the past, one time was caused by the hdd enclosure being a cheap usb 3.0 enclosure and not worth the time and the other time was due to the usb 3.0 cable being dodgy.

I see it's connected with the cable I'm sure you've already tried but make sure you switch out the cable to see if that's the problem.. you say this is happened before and you've been able to fix it, it may be your hard drive going up..
