We need more customization and functionality on the Xbox One.

Firstly, I'm really disappointed how limited my customization options are on my Xbox One. So I'm wondering when Microsoft will release a new update that includes pictures we can upload to change our gamerpics .That said, Xbox One has a terrible selection
of gamerpics that come off cartoonish. I'm sure we all would rather have our own backgrounds for gamerpics.

Secondly, what I miss most about the 360 that needs to be incorporated in the xbox one, functionality. I used to be able to send a voice message in under 10 seconds. Now I have type a message that takes anywhere from 5-7 minutes. I'm not sure why this feature
was never implemented.

Thirdly, like Win8 and 10, majority of users customizing choices is covered up and tucked behind Microsoft's future of big simple flat ugly tiles covering the screen handy for all touch and mobile users. That is getting shoved on every Microsoft product. It
would be nice if you could get rid of those terrible tiles and advertisements so we could actually see our background in the first place.

Family timer

XBOX One doesn't have the family timer functionality.

Mitchell - I agree with graphics, destruction, smooth fast gameplay, gore, dedi servers, great audio. Anything they can do to make the game look, sound and play great is what we should expect.

I don't agree with customization. Customizations need to be limited. The developers should not feel the need to cater to every player's demand. We don't need an on/off switch for every single feature in the game. We don't need 20 different pilot uniforms.
We don't need the option to turn HUD settings on/off.

Every time the developers make an exception to add a new option or customization for the players it takes away from graphics, sound and smooth gameplay. Each time a customization is added the game engine now needs to evaluate whether player X has option
A turned on/off, whether player Y has option B turned on/off, and so on. As these custom options increase more of the game engine's processing power gets dedicated to evaluating options instead of giving us better graphics, sound and smooth gameplay.

That's what I mean by simplicity. Give me better graphics. Give me better sound. Give me smoother gameplay. Just keep the game options and player customizations simple so that my gameplay experience doesn't suffer just for the sake of being able to change
the color of my pilot's helmet.

 

Microsoft will never let you use your own pics on your profile, for public viewing, as it will just be abused.

 

That's a fair point, and I can understand why they would not allow it for publicly viewable pictures. But what about pictures only viewable to friends? It wouldn't be hard: there is a report feature, accounts can be suspended if the feature is abused,
and your friends have the ability to de-friend you if they don't like your picture (then it wouldn't be visible to them).

They have the same feature on the 360 - that's what I don't get. Why have certain features been inexplicably dropped on this console that were there on the previous generation?

 

Yeah profile stuff like profile images wont happen. They'll release gamer pics like they did with the Xbox 360, but they wont allow people to customize it with their own photo.

Anyways, we'll get many different options in the future. Look at the 360 dashboard, it has changed so much, so expect to see some new things for the Xbox One Dashboard in the near future.

 

I have to say I heartily second the bewilderment over some features dropped from the 360. Some things I get the rationale; not allowing people to use the kinect to take photos for profile pics - I get that (I'm sure there would be ways of policing it, but
still, in principal I do understand the thinking).

But a greater selection of gamerpics would certainly be a step forward, and the voice messaging thing REALLY confuses me. That is one which I cannot possibly see a downside to. All of the elements for security regarding this feature were there on the 360.


I hope MS are indeed listening and planning to implement some of the popular suggestions into future dashboard updates. I do love my Xbox One, but there are definitely some things it is missing that I can't see a logical explanation for (and they would
be easily fixable).
