I have a fairly decent 3rd party headset that works with the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 through usb or red/white audio and I've been enjoying it a lot. I hope that it will work with the Xbox One too. Sony confirmed that all PS3 headsets will work with the PS4, so Microsoft would be loosing out here if they didn't let us use the old headsets.

Even if they did or didn't come out with a proprietary headset, there will be third party options. There always are, so I'm not too worried. I personally intend to upgrade my Turtle Beach headset to the next model that's next-gen compatible. I've been pleased with their audio performance this current gen so I'll stick with the brand into the next generation.

 

With Xbox live costing less than half a penny an hour - I don't think compensation is worth the claim time...

 

There's no service that's going to work 100% of the time.. If there's an extended outage I've seen them provide additional time or other benefits for those impacted by it.

 

Xbox Live doesn't have an SLA to my knowledge. Plus they give free play weekends anyway.

 

While I can see where your sentiment is coming from. Do realize that Microsoft and Xbox studios go above and beyond to provide the most efficient and stable service possible.

Also, understand that with millions of players connecting worldwide there is bound to be an error at some point and time of operation. Nothing is perfect and Microsoft does not claim to be. However, they can and will provide service as best as they can and
like the incident yesterday. Those are very rare occurrences and the situation was fixed in less than 24 hours.

It happens. They usually fix things pretty quickly.
