Hey Xbox One forum! I'm Howard Philpott from the ID@Xbox developer Deco Digital and I'm here to tell you about our documentary which follows the production of an Xbox One game from start to finish.

Making Indie Games

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Almost no section seemed to fit this question. I'm a college student who wanted to start trying to make Xbox One Indie Games. I looked at the program, ID@Xbox and I noticed that in order to sign up, you
need to have made a previous game. I didn't make a previous game. I don't want to go and make a game now just so I can start developing Indie games on Xbox One because that will take a while. If I'm not mistaken, Xbox 360 Indie games development was more college
student friendly. Is there any other program to make Indie games or any way I can make them without signing up? Thanks in advance.

 

Xbox One Question

They're free games. Would you rather not have it for free and pay a price? Dont like the game, Dont play it. Plus I don't think we will ever get full games because of that stupid ID@Xbox bullcrap. Indie games all day.

So the kickstarter was created to fund the documentary?

 

*yawns* documentaries put me to sleep...I usually watch the space/science ones at night while falling asleep...I dont care really how a game is made as long as its fun..just want to play the game and have fun, not watch documentaries on how its made...maybe
just me but I doubt it.

 

It's a cool idea and I'd watch it.

Maybe go into more detail about how Microsoft have been through this project. I know you said they have given you the tools to use and the freedom, but go into more detail....if possible. It might help other indie game companies decide to make a game for
the X-ONE.

Bring up a scenario in the game and then show how you go about deciding what to do or brainstorming with the rest of the team. Make the viewer feel like a "fly on the wall" when deciding key game features. I'm sure we know or have a good idea, but it would
be cool to see.

Show some concept art that gets turned down with an explanation why as well as concept art that gets approved. Show us as it's happening.

Explain in detail how the Kickstarter program helped make this possible. Hype Kickstarter up a bit.

Talk more about the game and less about your selves, talk about the tools it takes to make an independent game, talk about options and opportunity's people have to put them selves in a position to make an independent game.

And most importantly ditch that water temple music, 3 minutes of it was excruciating enough.
