"we can't turn on chat right now"

So how can i get this to work? My friend finally decided to get an xbox1 but now we cant talk to each-other.

Can't turn on party chat

When we try get a party going, each time you press the "turn on party chat" it says "we cannot turn on chat right now. Try again later". Each of the party members nat status is open. Help?

Every time I try to start or join a party, I have to turn party chat on. Then I get the message We cant turn on chat right now. Try again later. I can hear/talk in the game chat.

 

Have him do a reboot. That solved the issue for me

 

If for some reason party chat wont work you could just use Skype, don't have to make a video call and it will stay open while you game.

Both of you should just check your NAT settings under network, it could be that preventing your chat from working, you both want NAT type.to be open

 

Yes, i just noticed that i have a strict NAT, which is the problem. Not sure why now of all times. I really dont want to have to go in and mess around with the router's dns and Ip stuff. Im probably just going to make it worse.

 

The current last number of xb1 is 65,strict it to the higher end 100-120...port forward udc 80-80, both udc/tcp 3074-3074.

Problem solved.mind you thats with more latest model routers im finding many have xb1s port pre installed,other you might be in for some fun n games.

Just to add and its only ghosts Ive come across so far has 6 new port numbers.

Even so ive noticed a couple of times the last few days,its happened to me,work going on I think with the update inbound.

 

Port toward and set up a static ip if nothing else works
