We can't find a microphone for these people

Hello, so I recently bought a new wireless controller since my other one that came with the xbox stopped working, I remember after syncing the new controller to the xbox I went and plugged my headset in and it worked find, I heard sound, I then got off and
that was the last time I heard anything. Now whenever I try to make a party/ join it, it tells me that there is no mic connected, and the muted microphone appears on the top right of the screen. It's not the headset because it works fine on my phone, I've
also tried my headphones which I would use before on my old controller and the xbox still doesn't pick them up, I'm thinking maybe it's the controller, also I'm thinking about buying an adaptor, maybe that will help.

P.S. when the headset is plugged in the option of turning my mic on or off doesn't appear, the controller basically doesn't pick up that there is a headset connected to it.

I would try having the headset plugged in to the controller.

Then going to settings > Kinect & Devices > Devices & Accessories.

Select the 3 dots below the controller.

Check to see if their maybe an update for your controller.

Select the 1st option which shows you the firmware.

Update the controller if possible, with headset attached.

If that doesn't work... For the future i would assure you purchase a compatible controller specifically for the Xbox you have on hand.

You might have already did this, but have you checked your privacy settings and make sure "Everyone" is picked for parties.

Also, make sure your network settings are good

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't work try testing with a different controller/headset.

If you use a headset with a 3.5 mm plug and 3 rings on the connector, know that there are two standards for those headset connectors called "OMTP" and "CTIA".

If you have 3 headsets with a OMTP setup, then the headset is "talking" to the ground pin of the controller, and the controller is "listening" for the microphone on the ground-pin of the headset.

You need to get a CTIA to OMTP adapter, which simply reverses these two contacts. You can get these adapters online or in most cellphone stores.

I know that me personally I was trying to use headphones that had chat capability but I never could get it to work correctly (like the issues you are having) until I bought a Stereo headset Adaptor. If you have not purchase one of these you might try that

Hello! Im sorry about the issue your experiencing. The 3.5 mm jack is supposed to be a universal outlet for multiple headsets but some headsets will work but not to the full capacity of an actual xbox one headset. Your console uses 8 different settings off
your router to make sure your able to matchmake and communicate with people. If its not your network its an actual hardware problem between the controller and the headset. Just like a phone charger the plug or the port can be compromised to the point the hardware
has to be replaced. If you have warranty on your console please contact us to see about the possibilities of

replacing the controllers you have.

Not all headphones use the same hardware.
