I've had my Xbox One S for almost a year now. I got it back in December of 2017. I do like a lot of the features on the Xbox One. I like that you can record your gameplay right from your Xbox. I love the screenshotting feature.
I like the following feature. I do NOT like this error that I keep getting though. This is the second time that this has happened to me. I had a white controller that came with the Xbox One when I got it and some months after using it, it started saying "we
cannot find a microphone for these people" when I got into a party. So, I bought a black controller like maybe four months ago and it is doing the same thing to the black controller. It keeps saying that I do not have a microphone plugged in. I genuinely do
not understand why this keeps happening to me. I just really need and want some answers please. The microphone/headset (HyperX Cloud Stinger) works just fine on my PC, so I do not think that it is the headset itself. I do not understand why this keeps happening
to me and it is making me upset. I have the controller assigned to me and I have it updated. I just plugged the microphone into the white controller, (it hasn't been plugged into the white controller for months) and it worked for like five seconds and then
it stopped working again. If someone could please help me, I'd really appreciate it. Do I have to keep buying new controllers? Should I try to buy a different headset? Please help me...

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't work try testing with a different controller/headset.

If you use a headset with a 3.5 mm plug and 3 rings on the connector, know that there are two standards for those headset connectors called "OMTP" and "CTIA".

If you have 3 headsets with a OMTP setup, then the headset is "talking" to the ground pin of the controller, and the controller is "listening" for the microphone on the ground-pin of the headset.

You need to get a CTIA to OMTP adapter, which simply reverses these two contacts. You can get these adapters online or in most cellphone stores.

 

Not all headphones use the same hardware.

Connecting Compatible Headsets | Xbox One

Some headphone wont work on my controller directly plugged into the controller, but work fine when using the headset adapter.

 

I would try having the headset plugged in to the controller.

Then going to settings > Kinect & Devices > Devices & Accessories.

Select the 3 dots below the controller.

Check to see if their maybe an update for your controller.

Select the 1st option which shows you the firmware.

Update the controller if possible, with headset attached.

If that doesn't work... For the future i would assure you purchase a compatible controller specifically for the Xbox you have on hand.

Hello! Im sorry about the issue your experiencing. The 3.5 mm jack is supposed to be a universal outlet for multiple headsets but some headsets will work but not to the full capacity of an actual xbox one headset. Your console uses 8 different settings off
your router to make sure your able to matchmake and communicate with people. If its not your network its an actual hardware problem between the controller and the headset. Just like a phone charger the plug or the port can be compromised to the point the hardware
has to be replaced. If you have warranty on your console please contact us to see about the possibilities of

replacing the controllers you have.
